Terrible Bluetooth
Expensive paperweight, Bluetooth does not connect to my iPhone or Android phones, useless. I’ve reinstalled both the app and the device several times on both my phones and no resolution. AI says a lot of people have lots issues and complaints about the weak Bluetooth on this model.
Works very well
I have used this device for over one month. I had trouble auto-pairing only once, but that was probably user error. The device auto pairs if you walk next to the car and just wait for a while. The app seamlessly fetches new data and merges it with data that is already on the phone, so you get a continuous record of voltage every two minutes for as many days as you want. I AirDrop the exported .xls file onto a Mac and look at it with Numbers. A comma-delimited “.csv” plain text file would be a more flexible option for just the voltage, SOC, and temperature data. However, the report has several separate tables, so an .xls file may be necessary.
I do not like their privacy policy because they collect (and almost surely sell) GPS assisted trip information tied to the serial number of your device. I have set the iPhone Settings (not the app Settings) to not allow GPS for this app, which disables the trip and find your car “features”. The voltage data logging, which is all I need, still works perfectly. Five stars if they change their privacy policy.

Works great!
I’m not sure why this app has a low rating – it does everything it’s supposed to and works great for me at least! Every time I walk by my vehicle, the app updates and keeps me apprised of the state of my battery, which is exactly what I’m looking for. The developer updates the app regularly so I’m not sure what more we could ask for – thanks for a great app!

I don’t know why others have had so many problem but this App works great for me. Whenever I walk by the car the app updates. Maybe they aren’t hanging around long enough? It gives me all the data I’m looking for and I can export it out as an xlsx file and email it to myself. Great info. I’m really impressed.

Disaster
Have two devices. It crashes. I am losing data. Have to unplug it, pair it again and start over.
Trying to get the data for the service to show the reason why car is having parasitic draw and can’t. Very disappointing with the device. But very good idea. Something is going with implementation.

SoC needs fixing
App incorrectly shows SoC 100% while vehicle is running because it is reading alternator voltage and not battery SoC.

Doesn’t Retain Custom Voltage Settings
This App puts too much emphasis on SOC value which it can only estimate. Unfortunately it does a poor job for a hybrid vehicle and even though it gives the user the means to make a custom list of voltage to SOC values the app seems to forget all these custom settings within a day and then you’re dealing with the apps wrong SOC estimates again. Aggravating.

Buying the hardware partly based on App.
UPDATE: Okay, received the hardware. Note that the latest bluetooth versions, where automotive apps are concerned, tend NOT to have you manually go into BT settings and click on the device the app is related to. Once you make sure BlueTooth is ‘on’ on your device, they just connect when you get the app invoked. This Ancel app asks the device is registered, it can ‘autofill’ the serial number I think, but I photographed the barcode/serial number of my BM300 Pro device anyway, from which you can highlight and ‘copy’ the serial number.
Once you have pasted the serial number in, or autofilled, to the BM300 PRo app, there are a few options but straight off, you have the battery temperature and of course the voltage displayed. Obvs, must have connected the BM300 Pro device, to the battery you are interested in, to get it up and running and operating its bluetooth transmission first. You are asked what type of battery, and mine is a Lithium-based one, it’s an extra option right at the bottom of the main list.
I will be fitting the actual battery, to a car that is a hybrid, so there will be no ‘cranking’ test for me. The ‘charging’ test may or may not apply, it’s not an alternator system, it’s the traction battery I think does the 12V charging via an inverter, moot point for my purposes - I just want the safety and info about voltage and battery temperature. Obvs again, the BM300 Pro device must be attached to the battery surface in order to accurately read the battery temp. The little booklet that comes with it points this out.
That’s the important two aspects my usage will need. I don’t have to remove three layers of plastic trays, then attach a voltmeter or point an infrared thermometer at the battery, to find out this stuff. That’s the update, this seems a very good little piece of kit. Some batteries have BT built-in, but not all, and for tests I attached the BM300 to my Li ion motorcycle battery, but it’s going to go on a much bigger battery, and the facility to be associated with four different batteries is therefore useful too.

Admittedly, this is for iPad, but it’s some measure of competence that not only is the app available but it’s landscape on iPad Pro. I will knock stars off if need be, for this or that, [edit - wasn’t necessary, all good], but doubt this will be necessary. Looking forward to attaching the BM300 Pro monitor once it arrives.

Network Error!
Can’t even use the app with the device. It sees the device and the voltage during setup but once you have serial number it tries to connect to somewhere and says Network Error! And nothing anywhere tells me how to fix this even when I have tried 5 different network connections on my iPhone. Worthless.

Bluetooth connectivity
Definitely needs work when it comes to reconnecting. Please fix this.
App does not reconnect to BT
After you connect and walk away from the unit, when you return, if the app is still open, and you check the RED BT icon, it does not reconnect. You have to force close the app, and open again.
Hopefully this can be investigated and fixed, and a software version firmware made available.
