What's New in AnchorQueen

2.4.8

November 5, 2026

• AnchorQueen AIS Network — Live AIS worldwide in one deduplicated stream built from government feeds, partner aggregates and volunteer receivers, with the source credited on every vessel. Available on its own or included in Pro and Max; free captains keep the free direct connection until the Live AIS preview ends. • AnchorQueen Weather — The weather pass formerly called Oceanic Tides has a new name: radar, meteogram, tides, sea state and the anchor drift forecast, on the same subscription. • Anchor watch on your Lock Screen — See your distance from the anchor against your radius, the next gust and when the wind swings you round, with a Silence alarm button if it drags, on the Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, Home Screen widget and Apple Watch. Routes get a passage card with ETA and next waypoint. • Return to Home Marina — One tap on your vessel or the Marina NAV button plots a depth-aware route to your berth and starts live navigation. • Storm alerts — Meteo > Events leads with a National Hurricane Center storm near you and lists every active hurricane and tropical storm with strength, movement and distance. Ask Jules how to keep your boat and crew safe. • Director and Studio — Take a branded photo or record a clip of the 2D chart or the Live 3D view, then cut clips, photos and phone videos into one film in 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 or 16:9. • Print setup — PDF export previews your chart on A4 up to A0, Letter or Tabloid, with graticule, scale bar, north arrow and title block. • Lights at night in Live — Lighthouses, harbour lights and lit buoys flash in their charted colours and rhythms, major lights stand as 3D lighthouses, and every vessel shows its navigation lights. • Captain's Notes, photos first — Start a note with a photo, pick any chart symbol, keep it private or share it with other captains, and ask Jules about the spot. • A new map picker — Every chart style as a picture tile with FREE, PRO and MAX badges, a Day · Night · Auto switch and new map styles. • Regatta calendar — Sea Sports lists every race we follow, live, upcoming and past, with reminders before the start and a replay of finished races.

The Best Captain

I’ve tried my fair share of marine navigation and anchor alarm apps over the years, but AnchorQueen is honestly in a league of its own. What started as an incredibly reliable, no-nonsense anchor watch has quietly grown into a complete, intelligent co-captain for my boat.

Response from developer

Thank you, Captain. "No-nonsense anchor watch" is the part we guard hardest as the rest of the app grows around it — the watch is meant to stay a ten-second job no matter what else ships. If anything ever gets in the way of that, tell us at support@anchorqueen.com and it goes to the top of the list.

Ruined a good app

This used to be a very good and easy to use anchor alarm app. I had used it for years. Now it’s trying to be an everything marine app and it’s just way too complicated. So very disappointing.

Response from developer

Fair, and it is the most common thing we hear from captains who came for the anchor alarm: the merge put a chart plotter in front of a tool you used in ten seconds. The watch itself is still one screen — drop, set the scope, arm — the app reopens on the tab you left it on, and you can drag SafeAnchor to the front of the tab bar so it is the first thing under your thumb. If you would give it one more anchorage, support@anchorqueen.com will set it up with you.

What happened to the old app?

I’ve been using the app for years and loved it. Simple and straight forward and reliable. When I used the app at the end of last season it was great! Went to use it for the first time this year and what happened to it? It Is not even close to the same. In fact I closed it out and looked through my apps to see if had opened a different anchor app. It is now so complicated and does not show your track in your anchor circle so you know where you have been swinging. It no longer has augmented reality which is a feature I loved. It’s not easy to set your anchor radius distance. There is too much “stuff” on the screen and too many different screens now. I could go on and on. Needless to say I am now looking for a new anchor app. Too bad they had to go and ruin it. I hate it!

Response from developer

You are right on the specifics and I would rather say so than sell you the rebuild. The augmented-reality view did not survive it and is not coming back — that one is a straight loss for you. Two things you looked for are still there, just moved: the swing track draws inside your anchor circle on the anchor monitor, and the radius is a single scope slider rather than a form. Tell support@anchorqueen.com which of the old screens you miss most and it goes on the list — that is worth more to us than the rating.

You’ve ruined a great app!

What have you done? No more satellite images, lots of complexity nobody needs. You had a great app I have used for years. I want to go back to the old one!

Response from developer

After the port from SafeAnchor to AnchorQueen for best Captain's Chart experience with Weather Data. We hope you really like our new Charts experience.

Apple Maps Sucks

New update ruined the app! I have been using the app for years. I used it to set anchor location with Bing Satellite map. Now Apple maps shows me nothing! Time to find a new Anchor App!

Response from developer

Sorry the update took away the view you anchored with for years — that was the one map change we most worried about. A satellite base map is back among the chart layer options (layers button → base maps), alongside the new nautical charts. If it still doesn't show what you need, email support@anchorqueen.com and we'll make it right.
