Good idea weak execution

The idea of the games is great. Real time city building while attempting to fend of a dragon, but the main problem is villager management.
1. No total count of villagers
Also no count per job villagers are doing
2. No way to prioritize tasks
I attempted to focus on building a house while villagers were chopping trees but I could not add a builder.
My thought on this would be to have general villagers that would work as collectors of resources and automatically be balanced between resource collection and building. Then if you wanted you could add builders to a building to work on it more quickly, taking villagers off resource collection.
4. Villagers idle when there are tasks to do
5. When adding workers no message on where they are coming from or if any workers are available.

6. Fortresses are under powered.
I had 4 fortresses surrounding 5 houses, council hall government center, and 2 farms, but they were still being lit on fire. I tried increasing the number of workers in the fortresses but it still did not work.

Could be good except

I was enjoying the game until I somehow mistakenly turned off my hud. I couldn’t get it back so I exited the game and reentered and the last two hours or so of progress was undone. Two hours down the toilet because my hud disappeared. I ignored the agitating bugs like when the villagers wouldn’t even try to put out fires or when one or two would just freeze in place and never do anything again, or even when they would star working and need to navigate the width of the island to move materials two blocks over. But now I’ve lost a ton of xp and can’t get it back.

Good bones but buggy

This game has a lot of potential but there are some enjoyment killing bugs. The biggest of those is that the villagers will randomly stop working and never start again.

I got to the point of having 12 upgraded houses, which should house 36 workers, but I had less than 10 villagers who would actually do anything. I had plenty of all the resources. They wouldn’t even man the towers anymore.

At that point, the dragon burns stuff down faster than you can rebuild it because even though I put wells all over the place, the villages only put out 1 of 3 fires or so.

So many glitches

This game would be enjoyable but all of your hard work goes down the drain.
1. You need to keep your town from burning by telling villagers who aren’t busy to put out the fire. I could have everything set up right but there is a bug where your villagers won’t put out a fire even if there is a well nearby. This is the first thing that sets you up for failure because these buildings don’t cost coin they cost experience which can only be earned by RESTARTING your game.
2. Some buildings that help your village develop cost XP which you only earn when resetting your village from scratch. Normally this would be fine but the “lazy villager” bug that lets building burn without putting them out makes resetting pointless since you’ll be having to rebuild buildings often.
3. Your game almost never saves so even if you do somehow manage to put out all your fires, as soon as you close the app your village disappears and all the hard work you did to keep your village from going up in smoke becomes pointless so you just stare at the app on your screen while it mocks you because one day you hope the developers of this app will finally fix the bug but deep down you know that’s not going to happen.

So if you want to save time and frustration, play once, then delete the app.

One annoying issue

I know people have addressed this but can you please fix the problem with fires not being put out while villagers just stand by doing nothing, I love the game but when that happens it’s just unnecessary, my villagers house even burned down while he was standing inside it doing nothing about it.

Reset glitch

I like this game a lot, but there is a glitch in where it appears if you make roads on a certain part of the first map, basically the middle right of the map, it crashes your game and sets you back about 10 minutes. This happened to me one time, and I thought it might’ve just been an error that wouldn’t happen often, so I rebuilt the stuff that was gone from the setback. Then I built roads on that one area again, not knowing it is what caused the glitch. It reset all of my progress. I have to restart the level completely now, and I got zero XP from it. Also, the xp I SPENT during the level is gone still... I only have 39 xp and started it with about 119 or so. Villagers sometimes don’t do tasks for a while after you tell them to also, but otherwise, very fun game.

Edit: I restarted and built roads over the one are, and it didn’t crash. Maybe it is due to the high time I spent in the level trying to get as much xp as possible, or that I had a ton of buildings, but not sure what causes it.

Edit 2: not the roads, just seems to happen randomly

Edit 3: yeah, game is unplayable, it just keeps crashing every 2 minutes

Problems

1. The villagers will go around before they bring water to the burning buildings and they will be late then they will go on the same path then the building will be gone make a fix for this

2. The villagers (mostly) go on the tower after or i command them to go to the tower please have a limit only by one.

3 the enemy unit are over powered they will burn 3 buildings for 9 seconds are they using a portable dragon or something please fix this

I will response again if i got problems it may make good on other players and great game actually thanks :)

One Issue

I’m not entire sure if this game is still being developed, but I read reviews that addressed the issue of villagers not putting out fires. the most recent update was three months ago and it still hadn’t been resolved. unless there is something I’m doing incorrectly, but what bothers me is that I can have a well directly next to the building that is on fire with several idle civilians, and I have to watch my building burn because they won’t extinguish it. Also, the dragon bothers me slightly. Several times I’ve gotten the notification that the dragon has fled but within a second it comes back and sets a building on fire, I think there should be a cool down between dragon attacks that takes place the second the dragon flees. Otherwise the issue I mentioned will continue. If the developers read this it would be wonderful if they could address these, thank you!

Devs are reading your reviews, please keep them coming! Also between us even we hate that pesky dragon, in a future update villagers can build a trap for it, until then build the towers strategically to thwart most attacks.

Promising game with some sticky points

This game is right up my alley and I’ve been enjoying the basic gameplay. There are many points I’ve seen in other reviews which I won’t repeat here. While I can get past most of the clunkiness or bad AI bugs, the issue that is ruining it for me is that my peasants keep getting stuck... game after game, they will get stuck to certain buildings like flypaper. I can’t control individuals, nor can you delete buildings. So, over time I have less and less people working as they are increasingly half clipped into the wall of some tower or windmill.

Other than that, keep up the good work. It’s already fun for a bit and there’s a ton of potential here.

Amazing game, lots of bugs to work out

I love everything about this game, and I can play it for hours on end. There are, however, a LOT of bugs that prevent you from actually developing your towns to their full potential. The 2 most striking bugs are: villagers sometimes ignore a burning building, even if you press “put out fire” and if there are wells around. Also, some buildings get stuck mid-construction, and villagers keep going to them and wasting resources for no reason at all.

Glad to see you are enjoying the game it was meant to be! - allowing players to play for hours with full creative freedom unlike others that have blocking Ads or IAPs. Thanks for the feedback (and sorry for your experience!) I'll try dropping in fixes into the next release. Unfortunately due to the current size of user base I am finding it hard to support the game, please share with your friends and social circles, more users is the only way I can start supporting this game.

I will give more stars once the bugs are fixed...

It’s a fun and fairly unique strategy game. I would’ve given 5stars but it’s still buggy. My villagers are getting trapped in my food storage and not able to break free—I’m not sure if it’s an edge of map issue but it’s there. When I play games I have a tendency to crashing them/finding bugs. It would also be nice to remove storage piles once you build actual storages buildings for your materials. I would like to contact the developer to share more ideas. Thanks.

Thanks for stress testing the game! Happy to see that it still survived with those bugs! Please keep at it and also share with your friends!

Such great potential!

A medieval simulation game like this is just what the app store needs! I see such potential in a game like this! Cant wait to see how much new and better content is added! Just a few suggestions!
1) Weather System. I think having a dynamic weather system will really bring out the life of our worlds! It will make it seem real and vibrant! from rain to clouds to thunderstorms i think it would be awesome!
2) Castle construction. You already have some cool buildings! What would help this game stand out is the ability to creat a unique castle that towers over your tiny village. Having a starting structure that you can add on to would help a lot! So like your castle buildings attach together as you build them giving you a unique castle wach game depending on how you place your castle building.
3) Biomes and structures. Anything to make the worlds more versatile are really going to add to the games replay value. Having biomes and random world structures, like caves or towers or mountains, rivers, villages, animal dens, etc are going to make the worlds we play in even more awesome!
Just a few suggestions! Cant wait to see how the game develops! Very excited.

Thanks for the review! Also, you are very creative, thanks for sharing your thoughts! I'd love to extend this game further (with your suggestions and also some new buildings) but unfortunately (you may find this hard to believe) I have very few users at the moment and finding it hard to support this game, if you like this game please share with your friends and social circles, more users is the only way I can continue working on this game!

Pretty good potential but could be better

The game is fun but when the dragon attacks yet to be built buildings you cant put them out, also the villagers dont always go where they need to go, when the people go to build they take a path that is really far away from the build site. The game its self is a really cool game but it could be better

I have some good ideas

This game is really enjoyable and it entices me to play it everyday. If a developer is reading this, I have some ideas; 1. Make some more buildings or make it so you can trade with other nations through sea or land. 2. Make docks to fish for food and to help defend against Vikings. 3. Following two, add Viking raids where you have to defend every five minutes (real time minutes) 4. As I said in one, make it so there are other AIs in the world, that would be fun to ally and attack them. 5. Lastly, add some more farm type products that you can grow. Like corn or berries. Those are my ideas, but I hope you can try to add some of these ideas in. Overall the game is awesome!!!!!🙂🙂

Dev here, thanks for all your tips! I'll talk to villagers so that they can do more stuff!! Really glad ur enjoying this game though, cheers!

The game is great but

I love games like this and I’m having fun playing it but there seems to be an issue where one of the villagers will get stuck trying to start a task but not doing it, for example I had a farm and tasked someone to work it and after about 2 minutes he stopped moving and I tapped the farm again and he was just standing still even when I gave out enough tasks for all of the villagers I kept waiting to see him go get food or water but no movement for like 5 minutes then he snapped out of it and went back to work, also I had a windmill burn down due to a dragon attack and lost all 50 of my food and I had plenty of villagers and water wells around that should have been able to put it out and I tried tasking some villagers to it and nothing and so I just watched as all my food was destroyed :( but other then that great game

Good to know you are having fun with this one! Im sorry about that villager doing nothing in the farm, must be a lazy - lazy chap! Let me talk to them so this doesn't happen again!

This game is a great idea.

Perfect blend between a game with a resource-reliance system, strategy, and defense.

This game has so much potential, it is amazing! The dragon, and little witch that set everything ablaze seem to be invincible, which is really the only real “problem”, I see here.

It’s still in development, and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.

Thanks for your complements! I too want the villagers to do something with the with the witch and the dragon but they seem to be too much of a peace loving creatures, I will talk to them and see what comes out of it.

Small issues

This game has big potential and is exactly what I want in a game. It’s just in early development. The fact that the enemy unit can show up and burn everything regardless of how many towers or how many people are in them is irritating. Nothing worse than having 6 buildings then constantly being knocked down to 3 and never being able to claw my way back up. There needs to be some UI that shows how many open workers you have. That way it won’t randomly unassign them when I start distributing workers. Is it possible to ward the dragon off someway? The amount of times he set fire to a building in progress was so irritating. If it ever gets to that point, I would love to see the ability to create your own army to defend better against the enemy units. Just a thought though

One thing though when you build towers it will be automatically be occupied by one villager who will shoot arrows at incoming threats but if the tower is unoccupied then it cannot stop enemies - I am working on showing icons for these situations but you can tap on a tower to see if anyone is working there, if not please add one. All good thoughts - thanks a lot for sharing!

Okay game but very unpolished

I saw the ad on reddit, and let me just say- if you put an ad on reddit with open comments, you have to heavily moderate the post and respond to questions. My initial impression was the game was just one of the scam freemium games that are everywhere, but I’m glad it wasn’t.

The gameplay is okay and is nearly identical to kingdoms and castles, just with less content and polish. It’s not necessarily bad that the games are similar since I enjoy k&c and wish it was on iOS. But it was pretty rough to play. The UI is horrendous. There’s no direction as to what different buildings do. The world scales very weirdly when rotating the camera. And generally the art and art direction is bad. That being said the game does some things I like such as the xp system which could be expanded in some cool ways, as well as the monetization strategy which is nice and non intrusive.

Overall I’m interested in the future of the game and wish the developer luck, but the games seem too early in development right now to be enjoyable.

Response from developer

Thanks for the review and thanks for the suggestions and complements. I am glad you like the monetization strategy, thats my starting point for the game, basically I was looking to build a game that bolsters creativity, planning, strategy etc without being intrusive or waste time just for the sake of purchases.

Not a bad game

Recently got this game and have been playing it for a little. Seems pretty fun and the adds aren’t bad because so far they have only been very small and at the bottom of the screen. It’s a nice game to pass the time and in some ways reminds me of the game Rimworld but much less complicated.

A small bug that I noticed is that when building next to the ocean my farms were hanging over the edge. Is didn’t affect the gameplay though.

Response from developer

Thanks for comparing this game to a pc title! Yup those villages seem to be little magicians in how they sometimes build over the edge! I'll ask them not to do that often (I'll look into the bug)!

Potential

I like games like these...going around and collecting basic materials to build. I played this for three hours straight which was fun. The multiple things I disliked was the enemy units able to run a muck in your city and burn everything even though your buildings were right up against the Forts. I even double up the workers in the Forts and the enemy still burned 3 buildings in one go. Also, the workers would leave the Forts when I assigned additional work duties to my pheasants. By default, they should not have the ability to leave except by the user. This issues caused my Forts to become unattended and allowed dragons and enemy arsons in my city. Another thing is that the in-game messages that pop up are obscured by the XP window box...so the message can’t be fully read. When there is a fire or a building being built, pheasants would pick up the water/materials and walk in an opposite direction before going to the targeted sight. There should be an option to rotate the buildings before starting a build. Many times I wanted walls in many situations to keep out enemy units...this would be a nice addition that could be built with wood and stone. I enjoyed how the ads were not annoying. I would consider continuing playing this game with some updates to the AI and other additions. :)

Hi Pog, thanks for you detailed review! We loved all your points most of them are on our todo list, but you mentioning them helps us assign priorities to them. One thing about those workers in the forts, the peasants get hungry from time to time and will go out looking for food, they should go back into the fort if they find food, may they are not going back if they dont find food, I'll talk to them (i.e we will work on this bug) ;) wait for next update it has more buildings coming your way!
