The app I’ve been searching for (get it if you want to keep track of and improve any skill)

I’ve been looking for a long time for an app that can track progress that is intuitive, simple, but has all the features I want (and none of the fluff) AND isn’t a subscription. I downloaded the free version (limited to one “profile” aka one instrument/activity) and after about a week I bought the full version. Now I have two profiles - piano and guitar, but one can make many more or even custom ones - you could track any activity you’d like, however, it is made for musicians - it has built in metronome, tuner and a record button too, which saves clips of your practice to the session (recording yourself is always eye opening ). There is space to put in notes about the session (what was practiced, how did it go etc) and a journal tab (I use mine for setting long term goals) It’s seriously awesome, it helps me to stay focused (I pause it when I get interrupted and just having the session open makes me motivated to come back), it is very intuitive and a great tool for anyone who wants to get better at their instrument (or anything else). Not sponsored, I just love it.

Useful and easy to use

Needs 3 things:
1. The ability to pause a practice session.
2. The ability to add pix and vids to the notes.
3. A practice session planner.
But is very good, it’s helped to to see how inconsistent my practice is, and helping me to improve it.

Wow

This app is designed so well I used to do software development and wow such a well built app.

It has made me practice min 2 hours a day thank you!!!

Love!

I LOVE Andante ! My only suggestion would be to add friends and create a support section on the app. Like Duolingo how you can see your friend’s streaks and cheer them on!

Best practice journaling solution I’ve used

I’ve tried a number of different methods for documenting practice: pen and paper, spreadsheet templates, daily planners, none have worked as well as this. It quickly tracks everything I need without being too much, and gets out of the way just as quickly so I can go back to practicing.

effective

andante gets me to practice — seeing the metrics, hours practiced per week, the STREAK, i am more motivated.

get this app if you’re an analytical musician who likes seeing merit from how many hours you’ve practice and need motivation thru streaks

Excellent app

I practice a lot more than usual since I started using this app. It’s been very helpful, and it has a lot of useful features.

Great for tracking practice!

With statistics and easy controls on Dante music practice journal supplies you with a consistent and helpful practicing app and metronome!

Great

Really intuitive, clean design and works well. One additional feature I would like is the ability to add multiple items per session - I often practice more than one piece per session.

Very useful little app

I started playing again after a long gap and need to be supercritical if I’m to get back to where I was. The virtue of this is its simplicity. I like being able to write notes in two places, as I usually plan my next practice on what went less well this time, so I can use the journal for that then copy the list into the practice notes. If I make a note while practising then that can be taken over to the journal. I like the way the journal can be set so you can see lots of entries. It shows progress. Having the tuner, metronome and recording system in one place is a real plus.
A year on I’m still finding it useful. I use the time recorder for every practice. I’ve also created new Journal folders so I can summarise separately my music lists with notes, exercises I’m working on, my lesson notes if needed and a few other things like courses or band practice.
I don’t tend to use the mood item as it tends to change as I play anyway, especially if I’ve started it feeling a bit low, I’m usually cheered by playing.
Over two years on, I’m still using Andante and have added folders of notes on pieces and observations from masterclasses. I still think its virtue is its simplicity.

The Greatest app for musicians

It gives me motivation to practice

Best Practice App Hands Down

This app is an absolute essential for any musician period. I could not life without it.

Essential Tool For Deliberate Practice

Andante, for years now, has been a critical component of my efforts to incrementally improve. It serves as a major motivator by documenting your practice sessions and being able to see the related metrics. For example, I can easily select to view hours practiced in “2026”, and what each monthly practice time resulted in.

It’s almost June and I currently have over 300 hours of practice logged for all of 2026 to date. I feel good about my efforts and motivated to keep pushing forward with focused daily practice goals and areas of focus.

Every time I complete a practice session…5 min, 20 min, 60 min, etc…my reward is logging what I practiced. It couldn’t be easier to use.

Great app. Outstanding even. I would recommend adding tags to the practice on top of regular notes to further track practice type. Maybe I want to track the amount of time I work on a specific song or technique. Just a thought

Great App!

Simple, clean design that makes logging practice sessions super easy.

Amazing!!

This is a really good app for any musician that wants to track their practice! It’s got lots of stats that are great to see.

Excellent All-Around Music App

I could not praise this app more. I've been using it for about 2 years since I began practicing piano, and it has helped me in so many areas. It has a built-in metronome that can go at any speed from 40 to 300 BPM; it has a record sound option so that you can playback your practices; it even lets you track by week, month, and year your total playtime.

Suffice it to say, this app is packed with features (way more than I just described) for absolutely no cost. If you're a newcomer, or a pro, or anything in between, this app is a must.

Musicians best friend!

I play and study a handful
of instruments; as well as practice DJ work, sing and study books from a handful of subject matters. So having an app that can handle several profiles was essential for my needs.

This app has allowed me to keep myself accountable, focused and intentional when it comes to my practice and study sessions.

Pro:
No monthly subscription fee.
(I prefer the one time purchase option.)

Creates reports for all your practice sessions.

Color code each profile!
