Great for Learning, Frustrating to Use

First of all, this app is NOT user-friendly. However, I would hope that anyone with enough self-discipline to learn a foreign language is smart enough to figure out how to use a flashcard app. At some point, you can’t blame the app if you’re too dumb to figure it out. 😂 Second, all the research I’ve done points to Anki being one of the best flashcard apps for learning a foreign language, which is what I’m currently using it for with German. It also seems to be highly recommended for medical terminology. The spaced repetition system is great for long-term retention, which is exactly what I’m looking for. So why four stars instead of five? Because I CANNOT get the app on my phone and the desktop version to sync to save my life. I’ve tried, and at this point, I’ve given up and decided to just use it on my phone. Who knows? Maybe I’m the problem. Maybe I really am too dumb to figure it out after all. 😂

Needs major work for images

Images just don’t load. When I’m using the desktop version, everything is working great. The app has some sort of server download issue for images where it just doesn’t download them and labels them as missing.

Abysmal, steep learning curve

If you want something simple, accessible, and user friendly, do not get this app. For the most basic language vocabulary you have to comb through tens of thousands of decks made by random people full of mistakes with thousands of cards. There is no simple “top 300 most common words” in a foreign language for example. And you have to leave the app, use a browser to comb through a junky insensible list, download a deck, and then it might not even import to the app correctly. Waste of money.

A litter disappointed with this pay version

there is no create copy function button. I paid for this iPad version to support. But it is much worse than the computer version.

I LOVE this app!

Currently, I’m using this for my medical terminology course. From what I can tell, instructors tend to be more into recommending paper flashcards. I hope at some point they become more acquainted with electronic ones.

For me, it took a bit of time learning how to use Anki, but it’s been well worth the effort!

Another advantage to making flashcards this way is that it forces you to think about organizing items in a more detailed way than if you were making paper versions.

Très pratique et efficace

J'utilise depuis des années pour apprendre Anglais et Espagnol. Très efficace. J'ai crée mes propres banques de mots et ainsi je connais plusieurs centaines de nouveaux mots

I Love It!

So many great decks available AND you can sync between devices.

Email Re-Validation

It’s a pain having to revalídate my email every now and then. Nobody else does this. It’s a nonsense.

Worth it

Absolutely worth it. Takes a bit to figure out where all the buttons are for adjusting the rate of cards/days or hours and whatnot, but once you've got the hang of it, the app is so excellent. Great way to support the developers and actually study on the go whenever you want to

Refund needed

I downloaded by mistake thinking this would generate cards I need my money back !

Love Anki

Anki is probably the best program you can use for learning a language. I initially was hesitant to buy the app bc of the price, but it was definitely worth it to be able to study when I’m not at home, and after using the free desktop version for years it was nice to support the developers. My only issues with the app are I wish it would auto-sync when you open the app (and would be nice for it to auto-sync when you exit out of a deck), but remembering to click the sync button before and after every session isn’t a huge deal. I also wish you could change a deck’s settings from the app, but that’s also not a huge problem.

Best thing for heavy memorisation classes but a bit expensive on phone

Its very convenient and i tend to doom scroll a lot so at least its stopping me and i can learn my actual content. Only thing is it lacks a few features other apps have such as making the flash card off the material for you. But honestly i prefer making them myself; I have found it very helpful memorising krebs cycle and anatomy, physiology and chemistry concepts. I used the laptop version throughout year 11 and 12 and now in uni its basically just evolved into my go to app. The synchronising is quite handy as well as i can like transfer my decks.

Great learning app

Super useful to learn anything you want. I use it for language learning. Add-ons allow AI to pronounce what your learning. You can create cards to fit exactly what you are learning in that moment.

Not Beginner Friendly

My experience with open-source isn't negligible, so I feel a little annoyed about this app's presentation. Flash-card nomenclature must be something else, because just trying to sort the cards in your deck is a
bizarre and not entirely successful endeavour, which always sucks. Seems like a little 'quick-start' guide might bring in a lot of backers.

So frustrating

I payed 35 dollars expecting a useful app I have spend 30 minutes trying to add am already made flashcards in French and I can’t add any why is it so hard

Terrible

Way worse than AnkiDroid. Completely unusable and searching through tags is impossible

Not sure why other people are complaining.

This app works just as described. It syncs with the website. Syncs across my iPad and iPhone. I’m happy to support the developer as he’s already given it for free on Windows and MacOS as well as Android. I think if people are having problems it could be an end user issue and not the app itself.

They want to sell you cards

Not how to actually use it. Waste of money

Poor experience

The UI is terrible, it lacks a lot of modern features other apps have, and despite this being the main source of support for the developer, it is not even on par with the desktop version. I cannot recommend it at this price, better to get one of the “clones” that actually do it much better.
