What's New in Annotate

1.11.1

September 28, 2026

• Fixed a serious bug: saving after expanding or cropping the canvas could store the previous image, so the document reopened with the wrong canvas and everything out of place. Affected documents are repaired when opened • Drawing tools stay selected after each shape: draw one arrow, box or stroke after another without tapping the canvas in between, and a drag that starts on an existing annotation draws instead of doing nothing • Save without closing: the editor menu now has Save, and saving an edited canvas updates its entry in Recents instead of adding a copy. Your work is also saved when you leave the app • Name your canvases: rename a document from the editor or from Recents, and filter Recents by title • Copy an annotation in one document and paste it into another, at the same size, right where you're looking. ⌘C, ⌘V and ⌘D on a hardware keyboard • Fonts: the picker shows which typefaces can draw your text instead of quietly mixing in the system font, previews each one, includes the hand-drawn Excalifont, offers every font installed on your device, and imports your own TTF/OTF fonts (Settings → Fonts) • Number badges can be rounded squares, pins or speech bubbles, with a tip you drag to point at anything • Pen strokes can be rotated, like marker strokes; rotated strokes stay selectable exactly where they are drawn • Greek has been fully reworked (Layers are now "Επίπεδα", snapping is "Προσκόλληση", and dozens more), Settings has a Language row that takes you to the app's language setting, and the share extension is finally translated • iPhone Duo support: on the large inner display, Annotate now uses the iPad layout with the floating Style sidebar, popovers, and the full tool palette • The layout now follows the available width instead of the device type, so resized windows on iPad adapt as well • Transparent images keep their transparency: a PNG or HEIC with a transparent background chosen from Photos or placed with the image tool no longer appears with a black background
