Worst product decission

To need another dedicated app for authorising a payment is completely ridiculous.

The worst part is when you have a new device need your old device to register a new one or disable it. Without it you need to call support.

Why cant this be embedded in the main banking app. What was the thought process to split this into a seperate app. If I am trying to authorise a payment on my mobile, there is no added security for me to open another app on the same phone to confirm.

DO NOT INSTALL - Locked Account

Installed the app when logged into ANZ app and ANZ in my browser and completed all the necessary checks to get it synced and working. Everything in working order until I actually tried to transact at which point it locked me out of my account. How can you possible lock an account when the security has been increased with your “ANZ shield”. Now sitting waiting to talk to a customer representative 😒

Locked my account but works

The app hasn’t been updated in 3 years at the time of this review... Also, it may lock your account towards the end of the registration process under certain conditions (such as if you had tried to transfer money recently). When that happens, you are forced to call the helpline but in my case it took nearly 1h of wait to get through to someone! Once setup, the app works but a 25k transfer limit is inappropriate these days so you have to do multiple transfers for larger sums. What is wrong with this bank?

Ridiculous

I followed the direction exactly how they stared and it comes up with an error - called the number they gave me to call and no one know of that error and I’ve been on the phone to them for an hour going around in circles. Pathetic! Trying to run a business with these issues is not ideal! Zero star out of 5

Woeful app

Another Authenticator app! What a waste of resources. Also appears that you can only have 1 device registered; really useful for a joint account.
I guess we shouldn’t be surprised; we are dealing with a bank after all.
And to the Developer; please don’t respond with a derogatory canned response saying “it looks like you are having trouble with the app and tell me to waste my time calling the help desk”. The problem is not me it is the app!

Easy to use

Not sure why the 1-star bombing. It’s just an Authentication app like google or Microsoft Authenticator. Worked great first try, well done devs.

What’s the point?

In line with the previous review, what is the point in having a second ANZ app for transactions that are limited to $25k, when one can achieve the same outcomes by logging in to Internet Banking via desktop? To further complicate things, ANZ have introduced Voice ID for their standard banking app which claims to allow transactions over $10k. What they don’t tell you is that you are still limited to $25k. Get it together, ANZ.

ANZ a dinosaur

Come on ANZ, it’s ridiculous in 2022 we need two apps just to send money and still have a limit of $25,000. I have just tried to move money for a land deposit and my voiceID wasn’t enough, don’t you trust your own systems? I want access to MY money when I want, quickly, easily, INSTANTLY.

Anyone can send $100s of thousands instantly for free on the blockchain just as securely with a single app and it arrive at its destination instantly. This feels like asking parents if I can get some money from my piggy bank.

The ANZ shield site says “Makes Internet banking simple” How exactly does it do that?

Why isn’t this feature built into the ANZ app for all customers globally for all transactions? Banks will be a thing of the past unless you catch up, the finance world is finally getting its long overdue overhaul.

Easy to use. Handy. Would be better if you could build this functionality into the main banking app, much like Citibank’s security token.

Newest iPhone XSmax. Trying to register and it comes up with a “something went wrong” error have been to ANZ and they have reset the registration for the ANZ shield..
....................
Update: Developer was quick to respond. App started working again after my device came off beta profile.

New device = new drama

Registering a new device never works. “Something went wrong” - just useless. Sick and tired of this app. Don’t even know why it has to be a separate app anyway. Just integrate it into the normal banking app like other banks do. ANZ just want to complicate mobile banking. Separate apps that don’t register and Voice ID rubbish to increase limits. How much more authentication is needed when you have Face ID. ANZ mobile banking is painful.

Still not available to International users

Dear ANZ mobile team, could you please make sure this app is published across all App Stores worldwide?
It’s so painful for international users to have to switch to the AU App Store to download and update the app. Switching stores has side effects (such as wiping Apple Music local data).
Also we won’t get updates for the app while not logged into the AU App Store, which is a security issue.

I’ve already raised this a couple of times, I don’t understand why you insist on inflicting pain to your customers!

App now fixed by ANZ

ANZ has notified me that the app has now been fixed for users running older versions of iOS. All downloaded and works fine now.

Updated the app this week. Haven't been able to open it properly since. Tried calling and messaging on Facebook for assistance but you just go round and round in circles 🙁
*** Update: so they pretty much take he conversation offline so they can tell you to uninstall and reinstall the app and restart your phone, both of which is already tried. I'm also asked to update to the latest iOS which based on other reviews is likely to solve the issue. However I don't want to upgrade at the moment as two of the apps on my phone won't work with iOS 11. They should really update the compatibility details of the app as it clearly doesn't work with iOS 8.0 or higher

Stuffed app - now working thanks

Thanks to update from ANZ developers, ANZ Shield is now working on my iPhone 5 running iOS 10.3.3
However, ANZ also needs to improve app functionality so users do not have to delete, de-register, then reload and re-register.
Not really good enough in this day and age ...

Tried to use ANZ Shield, crashed each time. Deleted app and reloaded, still crashes.
Obviously ANZ developers fail to realise not everyone has/or can update to latest iOS. Hey Guys, you need to make your apps backwards compatible!!!

Application stopped working after update

After latest update it crashes. Re-installation doesn't help. I emailed to suggested ANZ address but haven't received any reply.
2 weeks later- still no reply and no fix. No customer support at all
I received reply from ANZ and new update on 23 April 18 fixed the problem! It works fine now-5 stars (hopefully there will be no new updates with such "surprises"

Still haven't fixed it

So my Shield app stopped working as others described. My iOS version is the same as theirs so likely the same problem. After reading the reviews I note ANZ just respond with the blanket email about emailing them with phone details and iOS version. Yet over the weeks there have been no solutions for those who mistakenly update their app version. An update should fix problems, not create them!

So many dramas

I couldn't get this app to work last Thursday. Took 45mins on the phone mostly on hold. Talked to 5 people. Got hung up on once and had to start all over. Eventually someone could give me codes so I could approve payments. It's now a week later. I've deleted and reinstalled the app and it's still crashing. Turned my phone on and off. Have now deleted and tried to reinstall and I won't reinstall. What am I suppose to do now.

UPDATE YOUR PHONES SOFTWARE BEFORE DOWNLOAD

I was running ISO 10.2.1 and downloaded the update. The app would crash immediately when opening. After deleting the app and reinstalling, same problem. 2 phone calls to ANZ, no answers yet. Updated software to ISO 11, problem fixed.

Suggest developers change the compatible software version they are advertising.
