App not connecting to the filter

The app simply wouldn’t connect despite following all the setup instructions. I wasted a lot of time troubleshooting instead of enjoying a brand-new product. I paid extra for the WiFi model, so this was especially disappointing.

Over-rated at 1.6 Stars. This app is TRASH!! Does not connect to WiFi.

This app is trash. Doesn’t connect to my WiFi. Get a new app developer. This app is USELESS! Should be rated negative 10 stars.

Works for me!

Don't understand the issues everyone having because it has been working well for me.

App rarely works and does not recognize my account

This app rarely works and when it does, it’s inaccurate. It also seems to enjoy telling me that I am using the incorrect username or password. I am on a 2.4GHz WiFi network, as it does not work on 5G. No matter where I live or how many times I delete and re-download the app, works about 10% of the time at best. Do better Aquatru. Your machines and supplies are pricey, and you should have an app to support them.

Can’t even log on

App might be nice if it even works. Start off by creating an account. The app logs me off for no reason after a month and doesn’t let me log back on. Reset password just tells me the password is invalid. So yeah. Can’t even do the most basic of function.

Waste of time & money

Connects to AquaTru WiFi network on iPhone 17 Pro Max but fails to advance to the AquaTru Home Screen on the app rendering it useless. Followed instructions to a T multiple times and doesn’t work. Save your money and my the non smart model. 👎👎

Worst app I’ve ever used

Customer service is the absolute worst. And the app sucks in the worst possible way.
But the Filter itself is amazing and the rest is all trash.

Terrible connecting

The app just does not connec to the WiFi source

WiFi connection issues

Tried multiple times to connect to WiFi per instructions and unsuccessful. I have an eero WiFi network so tried all the methods I have successfully connected other items and still not successful. I even turned off cellular so it would not even connect to that since that was also highlighted in instructions to not be on cellular connection throughout the onboarding process.

Why???

Why don’t need to connect a water purifier to home WiFi and turn on GPS just so the device can tell me when to change a filter. This seems sketchy and untrustworthy. You say you don’t want to sell our data but no one here believes you. Get out of the data business and just be happy people buy something from you.

Data intrusive app

Review:
The AquaTru app raises serious privacy transparency concerns. The App Store privacy section says “Data Not Collected” and states that the developer does not collect data from the app. However, AquaTru / Ideal Living’s own privacy policy says its mobile apps may collect name, email, phone number, ZIP code, city/state/country, Wi-Fi password, IP address, router name, location information, device/user analytics, log data, and mobile app login credentials.

That is a major inconsistency. A water purifier app should not casually disclose the possible collection of a user’s Wi-Fi password, router name, location information, login credentials, and usage analytics while the App Store listing simultaneously suggests no app data is collected.

The setup process also requires the user to connect the device to Wi-Fi and enter the Wi-Fi password. AquaTru’s own onboarding instructions tell users to have the Wi-Fi name/password ready, connect to the AquaTru network, select the home network, and enter the password. If the app only passes the password locally to the device and does not store or transmit it to AquaTru, that should be stated clearly. Their privacy policy does not make that clear.

There is also concern over location permissions. AquaTru’s support page instructs iOS users to allow location “Always” and turn on “Precise Location,” which seems excessive for a countertop water purifier.

The issue is not whether the purifier itself works. The issue is that the app’s App Store privacy statement appears inconsistent with the company’s own privacy policy and setup requirements. AquaTru should correct the App Store privacy label, clarify whether Wi-Fi passwords are stored/transmitted, explain why precise/always-on location access is needed, and give users a local/offline mode without unnecessary data exposure.

Awful connectivity

The app wouldn’t allow the unit to connect to my WiFi. Wasted hours trying every suggestion online.

Junk App

Really? I took the time to connect my water purifier last night and the app didn’t save anything. It wants me to go through the whole “connect” process again. What a waste of time!

WHY do you need my phone number and all these private details ????

Worst app on the store ! They lie that they do not collect any data !!!!!
I downloaded it several days ago, and now i remembered and I tried to use it.
Surprisingly, in order to simply use the app, you must sign up and you must give them a valid email, street address and your phone number !!
And turn location services on !!

WHY does the developer need ALL these??
It is just a freakin water filter !!!

DELETING this bad app !!

Please don’t ask me to call your support number.
I will not!
Fix the app first, by not brutally invading our privacy !!!

Does not sync periodically

Hi, the app won’t reset my filter after I swapped the 1+2 filter. In addition, it is frozen in place at 451 gallons filtered. It’s been frozen there for the past month. Machine is connected to WiFi. My WiFi settings haven’t changed. The app connects fine.

Overall a very buggy and unreliable app, totally defeats the purpose of “smart monitoring”

Hectic set up

I have the smart one and my God I just can’t with this thing. When you need to choose from a drop down guess what you can’t because the damn keyboard which is native is in there way. I just about give up on setting up this thing.

Not working

App didn’t connect to the filter, i paid extra money for extra feature and it’s not even working.

App not working

After a few months of workings the app just stopped working. Doesn't connect to water filter or update me on status.

Broken and Not Private

Forces you to create an account, forces you to put in location and share location, then in the end won’t even connect to the purifier.

App works great with my AquaTru

Not sure what all the negative feedback is about. Must be for the smart carafe.

I have the AquaTru connect and the app works great.

We have really hard water here and the filters do a great job at producing clean great tasting water.

The app gets updates regularly from the filter
