Fixed issue that disabled BACCH toggle.

User reviews

Seems to have trouble on my network with 8c firmware 2.6.32.

This app worked perfectly on speaker firmware 2.4. On firmware 2.6.32 the native iOS app seems unable to find my speakers after having been sent to background, another app having been used, and then brought to the foreground. The locally speaker-hosted web app has no such problem. I have followed the instructions on one of many sites about how to turn any website into a full screen app on your iPhone and that full screen web clip app works perfectly.

App needs to be restarted every time it is brought from background to foreground

8c speakers sound great but the software running both the speakers and this app needs frequent restarting and one significant workaround. The problem with the app is as stated in the title. The app cannot find the speakers until it is restarted. The speakers also need restarting from time to time; calibration recently showed one speaker producing test tones about 3db above the other. I restarted and the softer speaker was now about 10db (by ear - did not measure this one) louder than the other. A second restart and all was well. Restarting the speakers is more rarely needed to regain control over gain/volume. Finally there has for a couple of years been some minor incompatibility between the speakers and the free REW software that for some networks (I don’t know what causes the problem but I have it) prevents REW from finding the speakers for calibration. The workaround is to get a router connected only to the two speakers and to the pc with Ethernet and not to the internet. Then REW finds the speakers. None of this would have changed my mind about getting the 8c’s which I love (and the BACCH plugin is mind-blowing if your room reflections are under control), but understand that you will not have an Apple-like software experience (maybe soon, I hope?)

Stable and convenient

I’ve been using my speakers and this app for about a week. I was originally a bit put off by the very few and bad reviews on here. Unsure what others are experiencing but I’ve had zero issues, and have been pleasantly surprised at how useful the app has been. I think the interfacing and step by step process of setting up the boundaries and editing voicing could be more intuitive, but stability and connectivity have been flawless day in and day out since first use. I am using this in a studio setting. Switching to a main monitor profile and voicing from a near field and back is as fast as hitting a single button. Adding a curve for a sympathetic frequency I like to have during my mixing is a single button.

It’s possible that the app was poor in the past and that’s what the reviews are from. It’s possible people just haven’t used it or figured it out. Either way, it works just fine. Nice work.

D&D, if you’re reading this I do have more suggestions to make it better, though!

Poor reliability

Have bought and been using the speakers for the last 4 months. Great sounding speakers! However, the App’s reliability is very poor. Before the upgrade to version 2.4, the App very often couldn’t find the speakers and restarting the iPhone or iPad would enable the App to find the speakers. After the upgrade to version 2.4, the issue became worse - the App can only find the speakers one time after each restart of the iPhone or iPad. It means that for a simple volume change during listening the iPhone or iPad needs to be turned off and restarted in order to find the speakers. Hope this issue can be resolved soon.

Useless

Does not work at all as it's apparently unable to discover devices that are hardwired directly do the router. You cannot even add IPs that you dug up through macOS terminal commands so you're left with zero functionality.
