What's New in Ascend
1.6.0
October 17, 2026
Your Watch follows along, AirPods track your heart, and something spooky NEW • Start on iPhone, Watch follows — start a workout on your iPhone and Ascend opens on your Apple Watch automatically, on the same workout with heart rate streaming. • AirPods heart rate — no Watch? AirPods Pro 3 or a Bluetooth heart rate monitor now provide live heart rate during your workout. Turn it off anytime in Settings. • Home Screen shortcuts — press and hold the Ascend icon to start or resume a workout, jump into your suggested workout, or open your stats. • Spooky theme — Settings, then Appearance, then Spooky for pumpkin-orange accents on a haunted purple-black backdrop. Your Watch picks up the orange too. • Spooky rest timers — with the theme on, rest-end alerts mix in Halloween messages to get you off the bench. • Tell a Friend — share Ascend from the About section of Settings. IMPROVEMENTS & FIXES • The rest timer now keeps accurate time when you lock your phone or switch apps, and no longer disappears from the Lock Screen. • The Lock Screen now shows the set you're about to do, so "Mark Set Done" always matches what you're lifting. • Marking a set done from the Lock Screen follows your superset rest settings. • Kilogram fixes — bodyweight PRs use your body weight in kg, and PRs, charts, notifications, and history show kg instead of "lbs". • Cancelling a workout is more reliable. • The number keypad no longer gets stuck after tapping Done. • "Set as default" in the rest timer saves the length you actually dialed in. • Apple Watch remembers your appearance setting, and its rest-end buzz respects the Haptic Feedback toggle. • Polish: the This Week card and streak heatmap line up with their charts, and very short workouts show as under a minute.
