Doesn’t work with all socials
Have been having big problems getting onto some socials as I use it to communicate with family as live abroad the sad thing is I paid for a yearly plan for it to have connection issues more that actually have a connection

Most Servers locations are not able to use or fake foreign locations. And desk win app not being update over 1.5 years and iOS phone over 11 months. Never solve users issues and cars
Unreliable on macOS
Astrill repeatedly leaves my Mac’s DNS/network in a broken state after disconnecting, sometimes even making normal internet access stop working🙄I had to use a separate recovery script just to restore my connection.

Virtually impossible to use in China
From China, I’ve tried so many connections based in so many countries. This is no longer worth paying for here. Come on please…. Get this fixed! 90% of my working day is now spent trying to find a UK or US server which works on TCP. Taiwan? HK? Vietnam? Singapore?! It shows as being connected, but absolutely nothing will load on the internet, or send/receive on WhatsApp/Messanger/Telegram, or any other platform. It’s the most unfunny joke in the world, especially when I’m paying for the service.

Lost a Loyal Customer
I have been using Astrill for over three years, living in China. It was time for my renewal last week, so I took the leap and ordered the 2 year package. It was expensive—around $300usd. Almost immediately after renewing, my service dropped completely. I can’t access Google, Instagram, YouTube, etc. It really seems like they just took my money and ran away. Now I’m on the hunt for a different VPN that will actually provide service, hopefully for a cheaper price. Now I’m out $300.

Not that good
It’s impossible to find a link that works. In the beginning it worked. But after like a week it stopped working. And I pay for five devices to work but can’t get one connected

I can actually use it in china!! I tried expressVpn but express just wont let me do anything if im not in beijing. This is actually a working VPN thaats really good ❤️ Tip: use japan3, Thats the best server for connection

I’ve personally had a lot of difficulty getting stable connection in Beijing. While it says it’s Australia, I get Hong Kong Google when searching.

Inconsistent
The app is very inconsistent. I have contacted them and been told that what to do when the VPN is not working. Today it has worked terribly. For the cost I expected it to work much better than the cheap one I was using. It’s just as poor and inconsistent and I have spent over $200 Canadian dollars for the subscription. It doesn’t work more then it works. Disappointed

I purchased Astrill VPN Client for use in China, for a two week vacation. The first time I connected everything seemed to go fine but then it only stayed connected for a minute or so, so I tried it a couple more times, having short connections and then none. That was what started 10 days of emails back and forth with Astrill with them sending me all sorts of “try this” cheat codes and hacks, different ways to login, resets, etc. etc. that by day 10 had amounted to over 30 email exchanges, and only a couple very short logons. On Day 11 they offered online support, which, if I had known existed, I would have asked for at the beginning. However, they sent a link for the wrong platform so I had to wait another day, and by now I was in the final 2 days of my vacation and they were wanting me to get online to troubleshoot. It was too little too late. Had they let me know 10 days earlier everything probably would’ve been great. But as it is, I would warn against Astrill VPN in China, and know that their customer support is polite, but almost completely ineffective.

Android app is garbage, requires force stops to even open. China sometimes works.
I am an Android user writing this from a spare iPhone since the Google Play app page does not even exist for Astrill. It is hard to find where to download the .apk file (after you login to their desktop site > Android page). I used it while in China. It seems to work sometimes, constantly need to change servers like Korea in NE China & Taiwan or HK in SE China. I used StealthVPN mostly, sometimes OpenWeb and auto along with free Cloudflare WARP VPN as Astrill often gets stuck connecting or logging in to the desktop or mobile app. Astrill is blocked in China so you will need another VPN to login to the app first. The UI looks very old, clunky and old school Developer driven, I am from an IT background and it still makes me think each time. On Android the app becomes unresponsive MANY times. There doesn’t seem any way to auto-update it either. Often I am force stopping the app on Android and even Mac because it just creates an unusable connection and gets stuck in China. WARP kind of saves it but it’s cumbersome relying on 2 or more VPNs ESPECIALLY given Astrill’s HIGH AUD $56/month price with no refunds. They also don’t let you remove any billing card but say they do not auto-charge for subsequent months.

I’ve had to contact ASTRILL on 2 occasions for help. I was not able to connect to the Internet. On one occasion it was an hour and a half. The other was 45 mins. Spent and was refereed to a Senior analyst for assistance. I ended up fixing it myself.
I am not a computer person. To be very honest, if Surfshark did not fail me in China I would be using them. They were very capable in Assisting me when I had problems.
