Really Good

It’s ages since I’ve enjoyed a story so much! It was one of those stories you don’t want to finish but you’re desperate to get to the end. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone!

Cottage and Rugby with fake dating

This fantasy is, I’d say unique and that it has traditional contemporary tropes, but set in a fantasy world.

A must listen

Was recommend this book and thought I would take a punt.
Lovely book, fantastic story very engaging just a fabulous listen.
Quite a moving story.

Good

Really love everything about audible, just a little bit to pricy in my opinion

Magnificent book. Everyone should read or listen to it.

Well Done

The writing was top notch and the story never had a dull moment. I dropped a star for having a 24-year-old with two years on the job be assigned to Manhattan North Homicide, arguably the most prestigious detective unit in the NYPD. Ridiculous.

18 DAYS IN HEAVEN

Thank you for inspiring me to share my JC experiences 🙏🏽

Nice Read

This book takes you on a rollercoaster ride with two young ladies who are childhood best friends. This book will give you all the southern feels that keeps you engaged. Loved all the messages and quotes this book gave. Great Read.

Great Binge Listen

I stopped binging the author’s podcast (which is fantastic as well) and was not disappointed. Parallels to It were present but not overshadowing the overall story. It was a wonderful spooky story for a rainy night or, in my case, a dull Thursday at work. I look forward to seeing what else comes from this author.

Enjoyable and well written

Intelligently and sensitively written. The author clearly had empathy for his parents in what is an extremely challenging working environment. I wonder if he will share more of his memoirs. I only wish he could pronounce mental health correctly.

Loved it!

Proverbial page-turner and honestly addictive. Flew through it doing about half audiobook, half Kindle.

What kept blowing me away is that this all actually happened in the 18th century. These two ships went from near-Antarctic waters — the Roaring 40s, how did they even stay warm? — all the way to Tahiti and Hawaii. A multi-year voyage. And somehow the two ships of Cook’s third expedition stayed together the whole time. Spoiler alert: not that many men die. It reads like science fiction.

Sides’s portrayal of Cook and his officers is really well developed. Cook comes across as flawed but genuinely incredible. And the history feels balanced — respectful to the Polynesian perspective and the English one. You don’t walk away with a good-guy/bad-guy framing. Just real people with real demons and real virtues. Imagine being an 18th century English sailor running into Polynesian societies for the first time. Staggering.

On the audiobook: Peter Noble is fine — not distracting, and the book is so good it barely matters. He’s South African, which gives the accent which I generally really like, but he does the “consonant pop” thing where hard Ts and Ps really punch through. For some reason that drives me nuts — but it doesn’t distract from this great book. Not my favorite narrator, but perfectly listenable.

One tip if you don’t do it already: the audiobook + Kindle combo was fantastic in general, and it’s so nice for this book for the Hawaiian and other Polynesian pronunciations. Read at home, listen while driving, fly through it keep up your reading momentum. Highly recommend the dual approach.

Fantastic

Fantastic series. Wish it wasn’t over.

A book series full of surprises

I have to say this first - This Book series has me hooked. It came up on my 2 for 1 sale and was hours and hours of listening. I go for long reads first, bacause I use them while I am working on my leather projects (i produce al sorts of hand made leather items, but enjoy making maps of fantasy book series maps that accompany the books). I usually avoid LitRPG books due to not liking the stats that are included with the read. But this one has me hooked. I have already bought the second omnibus set, and I cannot wait to listen to them. Finally I should add that the narrators delivery is what I need from a book - effortless - and Miles Meili makes the work come alive in my minds eye, due largely to his effortless delivery. Thank You both for this amazing series.

Get rid of the terrible AI narrations.

What is the point of paying for Audible Premium for AI to poorly read the books? seriously.

Hunger Trilogy

Was very good and kept me wanting to find out what was next in each chapter. Very imaginative and interesting content I recommend it to everyone wanting a different kind of experience in audio storytelling

Fantastic story and narration

The story is great. I had seen the movie and then read other Andy Weir novels and really like his style. The Martian is really great, the main character is extremely endearing. The humor mixed in so seamlessly and frequently makes it enjoyable all the way through.

Amazing book

Loved it and hard to put down. Great work and story.

Superb narration!

Viola is such a rare and excellent actor and she brings that same caliber acting in her narration, her voice acting brings out the best in the reader’s/listener’s imagination. Great plot, moving and inspiring!
