About

Audra is an offline-first player for your own AudiobookShelf server. Download your audiobooks and podcasts to your iPhone, then listen anywhere — on a plane, the subway, off the grid — with no connection required. AudiobookShelf (audiobookshelf.org) is a free, open-source, self-hosted audiobook and podcast server. Audra is a client for it: point it at your server, and your library comes with you. Features: • Offline first — download books and episodes and play them with zero connection • Audiobooks and podcasts together — multi-track books play as one seamless timeline • Find new podcasts — search the Apple Podcasts directory and download episodes into your library • CarPlay — your downloaded library, hands-free, with Now Playing controls • Playback progress backed up to your private iCloud, so it survives a reinstall or a new phone • Adjustable playback speed, skip controls, and a Mini-player that follows you across the app • Private by design — connects only to your server; no account with us, no tracking, no data collected. Your credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain • Supports self-signed HTTPS certificates for home servers (Synology and similar) Requires your own AudiobookShelf server, reachable from your iPhone. Audra is not a content store and does not provide any audiobooks or podcasts itself.

What's New in Audra

1.5

August 26, 2026

Audra can now reach your server at more than one address, and CarPlay shows what you're listening to right at the top of the list. • Alternate addresses: list the other addresses your server answers at, one per line, in Settings. Audra switches to one automatically when the main address doesn't answer — at home, on the road, or over a VPN — and comes back to your main address when it's reachable again • Setting Audra up for the first time now works from anywhere, not just on your home network • Downloads use whichever address is currently working • Your iCloud listening position is unaffected by alternate addresses — nothing to re-pair • CarPlay: what's playing is now pinned to the top of the list under a "Now Playing" header, so you can see it without leaving the list • CarPlay: the pin stays while you're paused and steps to the next item as playback advances • CarPlay: removed the per-row progress bars for a cleaner list • Mark as Read now marks an item finished on all your devices, not just on the server — including Apple Podcasts episodes and imported files
