Thought Conductor Couldn’t Get Any Worse??

As I long suffering aurender user, it was with great trepidation that I “upgraded” to version 5 but version 4 was driving me crazy and version 3 was getting wonkier and wonkier. They have to have finally brought this program up to snuff, right? Given all the negative reviews, they must have finally figured it out, right? Wrong. I use my aurender primarily as a music server and after installing version 5, my entire library of 5,000+ songs is simply gone. Missing. Now I’m sure that I’ll figure this out (hopefully) but all of this is making me rethink aurender and finally move to Innous.

Update: After my initial review reached at to customer service and the experience that I had compelled me to amend this review. They were fantastic- a real person who actually seemed to care about my issue and had the knowledge/ tools to assist. Too soon to rate v5, but the customer service experience is a hands down 5. Thank you.

Conductor 5

This is a great improvement over Conductor 4. Good Job

Worked perfectly right out of the box

Connected the app and signed into Tidal. Very intuitive. No issues and the sound was fantastic.

won’t stream hi quality

Just a constant mess of instability and disappointment. Would avoid.

Very buggy. Doesn’t play well with A10 latest firmware

Not sure if it’s the app, the newest firmware (as of January 2024) or both combined but half the time they don’t talk to each other and the A10 doesn’t wake up (and I need to turn it off then back on). I never had those issues before. Some of the added features (multiple selection) are clumsy. I have to use V4 as I stream Tidal max, otherwise I’d happily revert back to v3 which worked much more reliably.

Needed the update

Needed to update to be able to connect to tidal, v3 wouldn’t since Tidal updated there software for MAX. otherwise it’s working, the feature in setup to stream directly from the tidal app doesn’t work nor would it be worth while to do so but just thought I would mention it anyway. I would love to be able to bypass this app and stream directly from Tidal but the quality does suffer.

Work in progress?

Compared to most other apps of its kind, Conductor is still top tier. I did not, however, find V4 to be an improvement over V3 (Legacy). V4 seemingly lost the “Restore Filters” feature when re-opening or returning to the app. As a result, the app does not revert to your previous place in a particular folder or album. Instead it returns to the top of the “All” folder and requires a manual return to your location in the app before having gone to another app or allowing the app to “sleep.” The changes to certain user interfaces, like clearing the queue and adding to the queue seem a bit more awkward. And the alphabetic scroll bar on the right-hand margin does not seem to work reliably. All considered, I much prefer V3 of Aurender’s Conductor app.

It’s dreadful

I don’t think any quality control went into this update. The controls don’t work, it loses communication, and the only solution is to shut it down and turn it back on. Aurender should not allow krap like this to run their equipment.

v4 not ready for prime time

So far I’ve had v4 hang quite a few times and some of the features I use on v3 simply aren’t there or I can’t find them. Sticking with v3 for now

Definitely better

A definite improvement over V3. More stable and fewer bugs. However, it is very contextually sensitive. You need to play with it to learn how each button affects the menu or screen you are in. For example, it only shows radio station genres, not my favorites. To see my favorite radio stations I need to go first to Qobuz or Tidal, press the Songs button, Favorite songs then appears in Qobuz or Tidal. Now access the Radio and you are in your Radio Favorites station list. Is it a bug? I think not, it’s just very context sensitive.

Conductor 4

Different, not necessarily better

Not necessarily better

In landscape mode it works but it’s overly crowded at the top and isn’t as well organized or portrayed visually on an iPad as the legacy version.
