Does exactly what I want

Amazing app! Does exactly what I want and fills a hole in the market! Now I can safely start a voice recorder while driving.

Useful app

Hi,

Please can the app be updated to allow upload to OneDrive, as currently only iCloud.

Also, when the app closes it often leaves the mic active at top of screen, so you have to close by swiping up.

Over all a good app and very useful in the car.

Poor app

This app definitely needs some work. I cannot get the app to sync from my iPad to my phone or phone to iPad. Whenever I try to name a recording, it will not save.
When you try to name a recording the keyboard on your phone pops up and nowhere can you tap to get rid of it and then it opens up another recording automatically when you don’t want it to.

Regards file synchronisation please raise this to our development team to support, are all devices on the latest iOS, signed in to the same iCloud account, and are all devices switched on in the settings to enable cloud sync?

Waste of money

The app describes itself as being able to record over CarPlay. I did this and it didn’t work, when messaging the developer, they said that going over CarPlay doesn’t work. Also the transcription doesn’t work. Apple won’t refund me, developer won’t refund me and I lost my notes.

Auto Memo Recorder is designed specifically for use with CarPlay and is successfully used by many customers, including ourselves, for hands-free recording while driving. We would never intentionally advise that CarPlay recording is unsupported, so we’d welcome the opportunity to better understand what happened in your particular case. Regarding transcription, longer recordings can take some time for the transcription to appear due to the on-device processing required, and we’re continuing to improve this experience. We take any report of missing recordings very seriously. Unfortunately, App Store reviews don’t provide enough information for us to investigate individual cases. Please note that App Store refunds are always handled by Apple rather than developers.

Good in theory

I’ll give them credit. It works on the phone and appears on the CarPlay screen but without a few more options so I can figure out why the mic input level is useless for actually hearing you, it is a useless app. Happy to alter my review if there is an update that makes it work.

Thanks for the feedback, in vehicle depending on the vehicle and CarPlay interface the system may be defaulting to the phone mic rather than the car microphone, some cars require permission be granted in the car settings to use the vehicle mic.

Does not work in all cars

The user interface is simple and intuitive. However, in my multiple tests, I could only get it to work in the car one time I need something reliable, and this is not it.

Funktioniert nicht.

Eigentlich genau, was ich gesucht habe. Eine App, mit der ich etwas diktieren kann während des Autofahrens, mit Transkript und keine zeitlimitierung. Dafür geb ich gern 3 Euro aus. Ich habe eine Restauflage gemacht, 3 Minuten 36 Sekunden. hat super geklappt. Und dann beim nächsten mal ins Auto steigen und CarPlay verbinden …. geht es nicht mehr. Die App behauptet, sie nimmt auf und wenn ich auf stoppen drücke, kommt einfach NICHTS. kein neues file. ich habe es drei mal versucht. einmal etwa 20 Minuten - das war echt ärgerlich, das das alles weg war. Dann kürzer, vielleicht 5 Minuten, auch nicht da. und dann nochmal ganz kurz. Ich würde die App gern nutzen, aber wenn sie nicht zuverlässig funktioniert, will ich dafür auch kein Geld ausgeben. 20 Minuten Ideen einfach verloren! Das ist frustrierend!

Missing sharing option in CarPlay

The app on the phone is great, but it’s disappointing in CarPlay. 
After all, what’s the point of recording audio memos in the car if you can’t send them to your contacts afterwards with CarPlay?

The whole purpose of this app is precisely to perform this task while driving.

Many thanks for the feedback, the purpose of the app whilst driving is dedicated at making memos, thoughts, ideas etc. for the individual recording them rather than to send to others as voice mail as that functionality already falls within voice apps/messaging apps. The app will cloud sync whilst driving in the background to ensure files are stored, but sharing with contacts is not the intended purpose whilst driving. However interesting idea for an update, will add to the road map as a possible feature.

Can’t text from car play

The description says you can text the memos, which is true. But only from your phone. The car play feature only lets you record them. That’s not what I wanted this app for. I only docked them one star because it works just fine if all you want to do is record a memo for later.

Auto Memo Recorder’s CarPlay interface is intentionally focused on safe, hands-free voice capture while driving. Recordings can be shared by text, email and other methods from the iPhone app after they have been created, but composing and sending messages directly from the CarPlay interface is not presently a feature of the app. We’re pleased to hear the recording functionality worked well for you, and we’ll continue to consider user feedback as the app evolves many thanks.

Works great! Just the app I was looking for!

A friend recommended this app after using it to record his thoughts for a book on a road-trip around Europe (lucky so he is!)

So got the app to help me driving between work sites, using CarPlay to take voice notes, better than standing at the roadside or waiting in a car park to jot them down!

I playback on my phone or iPad back at the office, works a treat! I didn’t use the Watch yet, only wear that sometimes. Transcribed some notes using the app, worked as expected - overall really pleased! Thankyou!

Fantastic App

As someone who spends a lot of time on the road in between visiting clients this app has been brilliant. There is no longer the need to stop to pull over and make some notes on how to resolve customer issues etc as I can do it whilst I’m driving. This is not only an app that aids productivity but also increases safety.

My wife loves this as someone with ADHD she can make a note of things on the move as she often forgets things otherwise.

Highly recommended.

Hello, Sorry to hear about this, if possible could you mail across some details to developer@invisiblestorm.co.uk please, so we can assist further. If possible please detail which iPhone model, iOS version, and any vehicle details, including if you were on wireless or wired connection CarPlay, along with any further information as to what happened e.g. if you can see the file on the phone and for some reason it is not playing back, or if it appears to play but seems quiet/silent, or any on screen messages. Also worth double checking in the main phone settings that microphone access for the app is enabled and possibly to check any vehicle volume settings when making the recording incase the microphone volume in vehicle was low and has resulted in a file with quiet audio. Many thanks and we will be happy to support further.

A good, simple solution to the inexplicable problem that iOS Voice Memos is not available in CarPlay. (Driving seems like an obvious use case for recording voice memos?) Another plus is the simplicity of the "append" feature, compared to the number of steps needed to edit a recording in iOS Voice Memos. While the latter does allow edits in the middle of a recording, nine times out of ten all I want to do is continue where I left off and this app makes it extremely simple to do that. The app developer is very responsive to support emails - he got back to me right away with an answer to my question. And it sounds like he's working on a multi-file share feature in a future update.

The CarPlay app I’ve been waiting for

The one thing that really seemed to be missing in CarPlay, at least for me, was an easy, dependable way to record a voice memo. I won’t go into the details of the benefits of recording voice memos here; if you don’t find voice memos useful, more power to you, and if you do find voice memos useful, then you know what I’m talking about. And now finally, such a thing exists! I use Auto Memo Recorder every time I drive, and the developer is updating the functionality regularly. Bonus: it’s a one-time payment, no subscription fee. So great!

CarPlay app finally!

Finally a voice recorder app that works with CarPlay. Super logical and easy to use. I can’t recount the number of times I’ve had “that killer idea” (or remembered that critical shopping item I need from the shops) whilst driving and then forgotten about it by the time I’ve got to my destination. This app works like a dream in native CarPlay. Genius!
