Glaring Flaws

It takes excessive steps to create simple commands for groups of lights. When I make a group with identical lights, it only allows me to turn them on or off. When I make scenes, I have to manually add every light and custom lighting effects have to be redone for every unit. There’s also extremely limited choices and no way to program a smooth flow of one color/brightness into another.

The UI for the entire app is cold and difficult to navigate.

On top of all of that, when the lights are trying to pair they flash at a fairly rapid rate on the hottest, whitest setting. Im incredibly photosensitive and this was an unwelcome surprise that left me with a bad headache and blurry eyes.

PLEASE make it easier to group and control lights. I’m disappointed to see that none of this has been changed in over a year of using the lights. If Govee made chandelier bulbs I would switch.

Worst thing I’ve ever purchased

This product is a heap of burning garbage. Save yourself the aggravation and money. It doesn’t work as it should, and refuses to connect no matter what I did. 0/10, if i could rate these lower I absolutely would!

Something is missing

I have apple watch series 7 and i look for this app but this app only available iphone but why not apple watch series?

Doesn’t save settings

I’ve tried multiple times to set up a rhythm but it never seems to save. The lamp goes offline even though it’s on but the rhythms don’t get remembered even though the settings are set to remember the last if it goes offline. Annoying as it’s for my kids room

No longer works

Used to be brilliant now the lights don’t keep to schedule, say they are off when they’re on and visa versa.. no way to fix .. what happened? 😫

Hopeless app

The app design is horrible. Why am I no longer able to control all the lights in a room at the same time? I can set a scene to do this but that doesn’t work with coloured lights. Why are the colour and brightness controls completely different in the scene setting options as to just controlling one light individually? Please role back to a previous version

Needs further optimization

Works but a bit fiddly

Overall the app is fine for what it needs to do. The devices often show as offline when you open the app, but when you refresh the page they show up most of the time.

The controls are good and intuitive for colours and brightness.

The macros where you can group lights together are good for turning them off and on, but don’t work for setting them all to a particular colour. It seems you can’t have very detailed macros.

The final thing that drove me to this review, however, is that an un-skip-able ad now appears for a Christmas discount whenever you open the app. You have to wait ~8 seconds before you can close it. This leaves you standing in the dark until the ad has finished before you can turn your lights on…

I understand the ad will probably be removed after Christmas, but nothing was stopping the developers showing it in literally any other format than a full screen ad that you have to wait to close.

Widget

The widget disappeared after an iPhone update, is this getting replaced?

Avoid

Bulbs enter pairing mode but don't pair. Absolutely maddening! It's not a user error; I have several set up from more than 12 months ago, but new bulbs (in new lights or to replace old bulbs) simply don't work.

Flashes bright white when not connected

Genuinely infuriating to connect when you have a lamp with multiple modes, as when some bulbs go off others turn on. All the bulbs don’t stay connected and frequently get disconnected when changing modes. While trying to reconnect, they arent seen and flash bright white in the middle of the night in a dark room. This makes me want to jump out of my 18th story window

I’m confused

I’ve just got my bulb and it works! It fits perfectly in my lamp, but I dont know how to change the colour and brightness.

Could be better.

The idea for the app is there, however, this app has a lot of room for improvement. One thing that EXTREMELY Annoying is the fact that you have to automate bulb by bulb if you have multiple ones in a room as opposed to being able to group select and adjusting everything in real time (example: changing all the colors, brightness, etc., all at once). You have to create a scene adjusting every single parameter 1 by 1 and if you plan on having multiple scenes of different colors, good luck usually never works the way you want it to. The other part that is annoying is if you accidentally power the wall switch on and off more than once it’ll reset and completely lose all the saved presets you had saved. You would then have to re-do all the steps AGAIN. This app would be much better if those changes can be made.

Sound Reactivity Stopped Working

Sound Reactivity Stopped Working. The app has permission to use the microphone, but the option to have the lights dance to music is not functional. 🤷‍♂️

Subset of Tuya Smart. Use the latter instead.

I purchased a new set of smart bulbs & noticed that they were recognized as Tuya bulbs. At any rate, the app times out frequently while adding devices, both at the recognition stage & also during the Wi-Fi stage. I also found that this app doesn’t have any iPad resources, so you’re stuck with a slightly upscale iPhone app instead.

TL;DR - I installed the Tuya Smart app instead of this one, and configured everything there without any issues.

It works… but the it’s using the old phone format…

So when you try to use it on the iPad, you end up with a tiny window and a tiny keyboard…

Flakey app

Difficult to find group function. If you power then off… then totally screwed.
Connection and app is very flakey.

Light bulb

Would just constantly flash wouldn't connect tried everything nothing would let it connect wouldn't buy again

it’s glitched

i like it a lot very entertaining for my childish mind but it’s not letting me access the light to change it anymore it says the app needs an update but when i try to update the app it says it’s the newest version so i’m unable to make my light bright again

.

the actual light is good and it works but the app is so bad. it takes so many tries/refreshes to get it to actually load and not freeze. very frustrating.
