I was hoping with recent updates that this game would stop cheating, but alas, NO! Please fix this. I love Backgammon, but this is ridiculous!!
Don't waste your money on this game.
This used to be a great game. However, a couple of updates ago that all changed. Now the game cheats. If it needs one specific roll of the dice, it will roll what it needs. If you get too far ahead, it will roll itself doubles (as many as 5 or 6 in a row) while giving you an ace/two or the only available roll that will leave you exposed (and then, next roll the game will roll what it needs to put you on the bar). I've had this game for years but no longer play it as it is simply no longer fun. 3/28/17- Update. This latest version doesn't seem to cheat like the last versions. I'll need to play more to be sure. April 11, 2017 - Still cheats. Save your money. Don't buy this game. 5/13/17 - I see the developer claims the game doesn't cheat. Uh huh. Well, the game sure is "lucky" then. Example, rolling 4 doubles in a row after all the pieces have passed each other, on a fairly consistent basis. Yup, this game sure is "lucky." As I originally said, don't waste your money.
6/8/2017 - Sadly nothing has changed. The game still cheats (or manipulates the way the dice rolls are used). I cannot recommend this game. 11/25/2019 - GAME STILL CHEATS ON ROLLS OF THE DICE. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GAME. IF YOU DO, YOU’LL LOSE TWICE.

Not bad but two major bugs
The game is fun but playing against the computer, it consistently makes a terrible error with the doubling cube. It accepts way too many doubles and then frequently re-doubles when it shouldn’t even have accepted the initial double in the first place. When I re-re-double, at least it immediately concedes. This gives the non-computer player a great advantage.
The second problem with this app is it doesn’t understand what a backgammon is. The game will declare a backgammon has occurred even if the losing player has cleared all his men from the opponent’s home board.
One other glitch I wish they would fix; they should allow a player to concede a game when it is hopeless. It is depressing to continue when you know the game or the match is unwinnable.

Strong BG app.
Overdue update to good BG app. Strong bot and easy to use UI. My only complaints are that the computer seems to immediately double after you do or when he is behind and there is no tutor associated with the doubling cube, also when you save a game it reverts back to before you saved it, it is a shame these issues are not cleared up as the app store needs more strong BG apps.

Quel dommage d’avoir supprimer le jeu en ligne qui permettait jouer contre des joueurs sur Internet. Sans cette fonctionnalité, je ne vois vraiment pas l’intérêt de jouer contre l’iPad. C’est vraiment stupide et je n’ai aucun plaisir À jouer contre un ordinateur. C’était beaucoup plus amusant de jouer contre d’autres joueurs même si des fois je me recevais quelques insultes… Au moins c’était très vivant ! J’espère que vous allez changer votre choix rapidement. En attendant, je vais devoir chercher un autre jeu de backgammon qu’il fasse à peu près la même chose que la version d’avant. Envoyez moi un message dès que vous aurez remis la fonctionnalité de jouer contre d’autres joueurs…

Bien mais peut mieux faire
Il faudrait qu’il y ait du son sur l’envoi des dés et sur le jeu en général. Il faudrait pouvoir mémoriser les scores lorsqu’on éteint l’ordinateur et reprendre ainsi la partie plus tard.

Pretty tough opponent at the expert level. My only beef is the annoyance of the screen being dimmed when it doubles - makes it very difficult to assess your situation.

Crashes
Since writing a complimentary review 6 moths ago this app has reverted to frequent crashing. Unfortunately Mobivention refuse to see this as a problem and after months of lobbying by myself and other users there has been no fix. It is exceedingly frustrating to be winning and then have the app freeze and disappear from the screen. I am now searching for an alternative BG app and advertisers should do likewise.

Cheats
Every time I am ready to win, the game crashes. If there are 4 spaces for my piece to land on the opponent's side, the dice does not give me the numbers needed; but if it's my side and there is only one place for the computer to land on, it always rolls exactly.

Latest version is much improved
Backgammon Gold is getting much better. Most issues have been addressed except for being knocked out of a match due to the server not connecting, even when your own wifi is operating perfectly. That apart, it is great.
