I went to this game because a different one was so unfair of the computer's dice rolls. At first, I thought this was better, but after playing for a short while, I see that it is not. In one of my typical games, the computer will get 3 or 4 sets of good doubles, while I usually might not get any. It does not seem to be random. If I get doubles, it's often 1's, where the computer gets great numbers. Several times when I've almost won, I've seen the computer get back-to-back great doubles, for the win. A regular person is not likely to get the perfect numbers they need as often as the computer does. And all of this is at Easy. I've tried Med, but it was unfair, and much worse. It appears to be a very well written game and if the dice rolls were fair and truly random, I would give 5 stars...

If only the dice were random…

This game is loaded with features far above what the other backgammon games I’ve checked out offer. Great aesthetics, yellow highlighting of potential moves, a simple undo feature, and lots more.

Ordinarily, I’d easily give it five stars. But cannot, for one reason. It has a major flaw that makes it unacceptable (to me) for true practice against the computer:

The dice are non-random.

This is not necessarily malicious. I suspect the dice are enhanced just to make the game more exciting. That’s not uncommon among game apps.

Evidence? There are just too many ‘coincidental’ rolls, like, where only one out of 36 would benefit the roller, and it hits. Happens too often—way too often (for both computer and human player) for random dice.

And too many doubles, especially on the last play of the game.

My pet peeve: when playing the computer, its blot on the bar gets in first roll (my estimate) about 70-80% of the time. Even with five slots filled.

Note to developers: consider building in an option to select 1) true random dice, or 2) the current ‘exciting play’ (non-random) setting.

That way, those of us wanting to practice can do so without enhanced dice, if we choose.

I still play this game a lot, but often while gritting my teeth. Why stick with it? Because I can’t find other Backgammon apps with as many features with random dice.

(Note: I’ve never tried playing against live players, so that play may be different.)

Almost as good as in personi

I don’t play any of my other iPad games anymore. I just wish there were people close by that would enjoy a visit which included Backgammon and/or Foosball.

Great backgammon

Fun and competitive backgammon!

Wow

Easy

Fun to play against the game! I’m addicted!

I love Backgammon, and I love being able to play without another human.

Best choice

Love everything about it

So problematic after three years without updates

I like the feel of this, the look, and the play. Always have. But on an iPad mini 6 the ratios are off and the pieces don’t line up right on the board anymore. The level score doesn’t work right anymore, either. I might be at 2600 at the end of the night, and the next morning I’ll see that I’m back to some lower number because it forgot what I earned the night before. And it’s always an issue since I have this on the phone and an iPad to keep those points correct even though they share the same game center account. Find something that is actively being kept current because this one is just a nightmare now.

Good game

Good game however it appears that it favors the AI WHEN YOUR FAR AHEAD. (Ex. AI gets lotsa doubles)

Backgammon

My only complaint is that the "random" dice roll doesn't really seem to be random.

There is a quirk that randomly will not allow legal moves and forces me to make moves that will give the computer a distinct disadvantage

7/27/26 This is my 4th review and I still have the same problem!!! Please fix it! 7/07/2026 THIS IS MY THIRD REVIEW. I STILL HAVE THE SAME TROUBLE WITH THE APP AS I STATED BELOW. I WOULD HAVE GIVEN A FIVE STAR REVIEW. Update on my last review same as here. Nothing has changed from the message below. I LOVE this game. And playing against the computer at my skill level challenges me. The reason I’m not giving it a 5 star is because the board many times becomes corrupted and I have to uninstall and reinstall the app! Then I lose my tournament stats!!! And I PAID for this version thinking that because it was a pay for use the problem would stop. It did not!

Crazy dice

I had gone a large number of games without incident… then crazy dice… time to put it in the bin…

Boss

Yes

Pretty decent

Hi

Backgammon

GOod game however cannot concede defeat easily. Computer does not take the most advantageous point off the board, will move point internally rather than taking another point off the board.
