Not work for every website.
I tried using the this extension on Safari, and it doesn’t always work as expected, especially on iPad. Some websites just won’t change video player with it and the extension does nothing at all. It seems like iPad video players have stricter rules, which makes the extension struggle or completely fail on certain sites. Overall, it was a bit disappointing for me.

If lots of websites are broken in Safari…
Especially things like not being able to click on things on websites, and more complex sites just freezing or nothing interactive working well.
I love Vinegar, and it works great. For ages Safari was unstable - being new to macOS I just thought that was why no one used Safari.
One day I decided to increase the restrictions on the few extensions I had in Safari and everything started to work much better.
I did go through my other extensions (I had a Dark Theme and popular Safari Tweaker which were my main culprits (trying not to name the innocent, until proven guilty here). But as I re-enabled them in isolation, one by one, it was only Baking Soda that caused the issues.
I was shocked, but I’ve disabled it now until there is an update at some point (doesn’t seem to get many going by the version history) - and things still work okay (if a little too dark, but that’s another review for another App)….

Doesn’t work
The app doesn’t work on any video I play on any website. There also doesn’t seem to be an easy way to contact the developer. His other app, Vinegar, is great and works great.
Non-Functional
It either does not activate for videos, despite permissions being given for all websites permanently, or it renders any video to a black screen without the ability to watch it.

Läuft nicht mehr..
Leider läuft das Bundle seit einigen Wochen überhaupt nicht mehr. Ich überarbeite diese Rezension, wenn die Apps wieder funktionieren.

It was working fine but lately it either doesn’t activate or if you try to disable it doesn’t disable until you disable the extension itself. In essence its unusable especially since its not actually working when it’s active and all permissions granted.
Not really what I was looking for!
I was so thrilled when I found out that this extension exists but I did not now that it does not let you change the video resolution like vinegar, if the developer is reading this please add that feature to Baking Soda too! I am fed up with safari because it does not let me change the video quality on most websites natively, I love Vinegar but this app just did not do it for me.

Fantastic but needs subtitles
This is a fantastic app that does exactly as it says. The issue is that there is no subtitle option. It would be great if the extension can detect if a video has subtitles and then be able to display them.
Essential Safari Extension
An essential safari extension for browing the web these days. Once enabled in the safari extension options, it makes all videos html only - which saves battery and prevents ads from getting in the way. it also makes many sites work with Airplay that otherwise just do not work.
Can be improved
Love the concept and the app but it does not work on every site for some reason;
I’m not sure if it’s the website blocking it or if baking soda simply doesn’t work on this site but every time I try to use it on lookmovie2 . to the extension does not show any controls whatsoever and I’m forced to turn it off for the site🥲
