I tried to verify my account but no response.
Useless piece of garbage app
This app does not function at all. Couldn’t even register an account. Actually I couldn’t even get passed the email verification (which is step 1 lol). I entered 2 different email addresses and when I press “next” to send a verification email I get an error message that says “something went wrong”. Great app 👎, my 8 year old could have built a better app. Useless waste of time.

Can’t get past verification
I’ve tried like 5 times now. Even deleted and restarted the app, and created a new account. Still won’t work.
Poor app
Whilst they allow a Visa card to be added this does not seem to be for a Wise Visa card
App has glitches in it
Always make sure you have cash backup as this Bakong apps definitely has glitches in it when you try to make a qr payment, seems to be hit and miss with it, otherwise a great way of paying in Cambodia
Makes paying cashless easy
Very good app to use in Cambodia. You can pay local shops with dollars or local currency. Top up and you can use it everywhere. There is no need to have local paper money to lose in your pocket. Some street items are less than a dollar. Thanks

easy to use and faster payment method
we found we had to get cash out all the time whilst in cambodia. Using this app was much more helpful as you could get out a bulk sum with only a 2$ transaction fee (most ATMs in cambodia are 5$). Plus everywhere accepts QR code payments even street vendors and it is the way locals pay for food. it’s also really easy to transfer between real and dollars on the account. Would recommend :)

Way too buggy
I am traveling to Cambodia and a few other countries so decided to download this app. Just like everyone else, I could not get past the verification stage. It times out within seconds. Seems totally useless.

Broken app
I have the same problem as other reviewers, the face recognition and verification process does not work properly. The app is not usable. The tech support is very fast, friendly, and eager to help but, they are not able to help so far.

They steal your money
Once you put money here you cannot take it out. If you accidentally put an extra 1000usd in this app you can’t take it back out. Do not use this app as it is a scam.
Works well
I’ve been in Cambodia for the past few days and the app has worked flawless for QR payments (ABA is the term locals use I believe because that’s the bank that started it). I did the verification while I was in my home country using my passport and a selfie on a Friday and it was approved Sunday. Added my credit card and was able to add RIEL to my account. Once I was in Cambodia I went to a Wing Bank and they added USD for me when I gave them cash (I didn’t want to carry as much anymore since the app worked).
QR code payments are quick. You just have to scan the code and choose RIEL/USD, enter the amount to send, then it processes and shows as completed. The vendor receives the payment instantly. Typing in how much you want to send takes longer then the processing lol

Problems
I can’t pass the verification stage. I keep following instructions, taking pictures of my passport and moving my head left, right and down and keeps sending back to the sign on page again and again.

This app is not easy to use
I had to close and re-load the app a couple of times just to try to finish my task, because some things would randomly stop working (for example, selecting country when linking a payment card). Then when I tried to withdraw $250USD from my payment cards, all 5 cards from 3 different U.S. banks were declined--debit and credit, cards active, funds available. If it helps anyone reading this, you first have to withdraw funds to spend from your linked card before then trying to pay with QR code--this wasn't clear to me at first. I hope this app can be improved so that tourists feel more comfortable relying on it.

Bad app doesn’t work
First off it has issues verifying. They need a passport photo and nothing else but it just asks for ID. Cannot be photo of a photo. That wouldn’t be great if places here don’t require to hold your passport. Then even after approved it just errors adding half my cards. I find a card that adds and it still just gives me internal server error when I go to add money. I have tried various amounts and two cards. It only lets you add riel and not USD. The only supported banks no tourists have. Cannot add normal foreign Banks. Maybe a good idea but this doesn’t work. Cambodia needs a way to let tourists do ABA QR payment when all their vendors only take that and not card. Went to bank to fix it and they told me it’s not working with my American cards to get the code needed to work. So I manually put money in at the bank still have to pay ATM fee. Then I find out I added riel and all the vendors here do USD QR codes and it doesn’t work with riel in this app. The locals app auto converts for them and this one needs manual conversion. Why make us add riel and convert to riel and then convert back to USD. This app is almost entirely useless.

Useless app waste of time
Absolutely useless app that collects your passport and biometrics for kyc and then just rejects. Just wanted to connect my foreign card to make payments for vendors.

Application non fonctionnelle avec Visa et globalement non fiable
L’application part d’une super idée car elle permet de payer ses achats au Cambodge via Aba Pay, moyen de paiement utilisant un système de QR codes universellement accepté dans le pays.
Le premier problème est qu’il n’est possible de recharger son compte que depuis une Mastercard. D’autre part, l’application manque de transparence concernant les frais, importants, prélevés à chaque rechargement.
Enfin, l’assistance, joignable par Messenger, est réactive mais n’écoute pas les problématiques et reste complètement bornée, se révélant donc inutile.
PS : nouveau problème rencontré durant le séjour : certains commerçants n’ont jamais reçu le paiement même après 48 heures d’attente et l’assistance ne répond pas.

After Successfully registered the card but when do the top up from card- appear the error said “internal server error “. Keep error then Stop.

Bonne appli mais on ne peut pas charger d’argent via une carte visa. Un message de transaction refusée apparaît à chaque fois. Appli pas très utile si on ne peut pas mettre d’argent sur le compte…
