DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS APP!
I’ve had it for months and still have yet been able to create an account! And I can’t reach anyone to even talk it it about it with. I’m so frustrated! I wouldn’t waste my time if I were you!
couldn’t sign up
was looking forward to using this but the camera on the id section to sign up doesn’t work :((
This is the best online banking experience!
This is the most intuitive online banking app that has helped me manage my money. It never charges me fees and is so easy to use. My favorite feature is the Budgets. It’s like a cash envelope and I can manage all my sinking funds in one place. Budgeting is quick and easy! No more worrying about if I have enough to cover my bills or wondering if I will get a fee. With Bills, everything is covered and set aside. With the safe to spend amount, I can spend knowing I won’t be short for a bill. I closed my account that I had for 20 years because I have so much more money now that I have Balance!

Terrible Customer Service
I stumbled across Balance Money app when looking for an alternative to One Financial after the revamp and removal of key features. Balance Money was first finTech that appeared to have a model that was identical to Simple Bank which was the bank I used prior to its shuttering and have been looking for an equal alternative since.
Everything started out fine. I had some issues connecting the my Qube (which I had been piloting) account to Balance but other then that I was prepared to migrate from Qube and One and make Balance my primary bank.
Shortly after receiving and activating my debit card and establishing transfers of approx. 10K I suddenly could no longer log into my account.
After several attempts (using the correct password) I attempted to reset my password only to be greeted with a message that my account was locked. I called customer service and was pleasantly connecting to someone nearly immediately. However, with no troubleshooting or further inquiry I was told they would have tech looking into it. No information on timing nor an email confirmation or case no. was provided.
After a day or two of no correspondence I reached out again to customer service. This time I did not get anyone on the line in a timely manner but did get a callback some hours later. This time I was told they were aware of my case and the tech was still investigating and they would get back to me the same day. I got no further correspondence. After this point I was unable to reach customer service at all. I made serval calls to customer service that simply were dropped despite saying I had a two minute wait as well as options for callbacks that never happened. I also emailed customer service via app to no avail. Not even an email acknowledging they had received my inquiry.
Finally after week+ of someone called me back in response to another failed attempt to speak to someone (I didn’t actually request a callback). I was finally told that my account was closed due to TOS volition however they failed to be able to tell me what the supposed TOS volition I had done and left me with no COA. Which you can imaging is pretty frustrating and somewhat infuriating. And while this might make sense for say suspicion of fraud and not divulging practices and methods I’m unclear why an alleged TOS volition would not be communicated.
One thing Simple Bank had was excellent customer service and Balance Money has been an outright disaster on that front. Thankfully my 10K in transfers did not go through to leave me in limbo and unable leverage that money. For a week plus I wasn’t sure if I’d been scammed or the company was going out business. This is exacerbated by the newness of the venture and very little information on the internet and various social channels.
The failures of One and Simple continue to erode trust in Fintechs and for Balance Money continues that trend. For now after decade plus I’m again make my primary bank the well established one I’ve been customer of for nearly 30 yrs and use Das Budget.

Feeling financially better now
I wasn't keeping enough money for the things that really mattered. Balance has helped me see where I'm not managing my money as well as I should be. I hope this app helps other people the same way it's helped me.
