Good with Potential!
I like this app! It’s what I was searching for - something simple, free and keep me in check with my expenses. I don’t track my income on this app and use it solely for managing my spending with a predetermined budget.
My budget however is set per paycheck and not monthly, I wish there was a feature to set weekly or biweekly countdowns instead of defaulting to monthly. I don’t look at the “days left” or “daily average” data because of this.
I also wish I can edit my categories more seamlessly. I can’t edit the titling and would have to recreate it to change the title, color or icon and then reset the budget for that category.

Best app. Just wish had one more feature
I love the app. The only thing that I wish was added was a monthly spending calendar showing what days I spent money on. That’s the only thing keeping me from only using this app exclusively. That would be great. Like a literal calendar showing how much money I spent on each day.

Basil has quickly become one of my favorite finance apps. The fact that your data stays fully local on your device with no account required is a massive win — I actually trust this app with my financial information, which is rare. The UI is also a genuine pleasure to use; sleek, intentional, and enjoyable to open daily.
That said, a few bugs are holding it back:
Recurring Bills — Setting a recurring bill pushes the date forward depending on the frequency chosen, which defeats the purpose of automating bill tracking.
Duplicate Transactions — Transactions occasionally appear more than once, throwing off budget totals and forcing manual audits.
Bank Syncing — Please add automatic bank syncing. Even a secure read-only connection would make this app a true one-stop solution.
Performance — The app causes noticeable overheating during use, pointing to something running inefficiently. This needs attention before it becomes a real battery and hardware concern.
