It works, with a bit of patience
Controls disappear when game starts. They still work, but they are not shown on the screen. Brings up a lot of memories, one of my first favs.

Avoid this company
I’ve bought this companies “Spectrum pack” multiple times in the last 10 years of the App Store. What they do is sell an app one day, then tweak it a bit (I see now they’re splitting packs up into multiple apps, once upon a time they used to sell all their games under one app - repeatedly) and refuse to update the old one or even delist it. So if you want to play your spectrum games again you need to purchase them once more! Truly horrible practice.
So don’t buy this. The developers (Elite Systems is it?) will delist this in a year.
I look at games I bought over the last 12 or so years and see some still playable. Never have I seen a company aggressively delist and stop supporting their products. Just watch. They’ve done it for years and they’ll do it again eventually instead of updating and supporting their own gosh darn products.
(I’m also local buddies with some old programmers, musicians, artists of Spectrum games. They claim they’ve never made money from modern re-releases of their old work. Wonder who the royalties are going to?)
