What's New in Beam Universal Smart TV Remote

1.6.0

September 9, 2026

Beam on iPad Beam now uses the whole iPad screen, in Split View and Slide Over too. On a wide screen the remote splits in two, with the trackpad on one side and the keys on the other. A screensaver on the remote Leave the remote sitting and it fades to a quiet clock. Touch the screen to bring it back, or pick in Settings how long it waits. Photos, several at a time Choose a few photos and swipe through them. The one you rest on goes up on the TV, and photos now reach many LG, Samsung, Sony and Philips sets as well as Google TV. Sharp AQUOS TVs Sharp sets with IP control switched on now appear in the list and pair without a code. More TVs that connect A Google TV with its screen off now takes the connection, and the power button wakes it. Older Philips sets connect too, LG sets whose firmware refused Beam now pair, and a TV found once no longer disappears from the next scan.

User reviews

Works great.

I don’t pay for the subscription, and I was manage to connect this seamlessly to my Roku Streaming Stick and Samsung TV. 📺 The back and Home Button doesn’t always work, but I’m sure that will be improved on. Ads can be a bit annoying sometimes but you watch an Ad (3) every 15 minutes. Overall solid.

App doesn’t work

Paying a subscription for this is silly; especially considering it doesn’t even work. Just keeps prompting on the tv to continue hit yes and nothing happens. Developer was also offering one year no ads offer for anyone that left a 5 star review on Reddit, but I can’t in good conscience promote something that doesn’t even do what it says it will. Also stingy about wanting to offer up the free one year, so whatever.

Response from developer

Thank you for the honest feedback, and we’re sorry the connection process didn’t work as expected. We’ve been working extensively on app stability, TV discovery, and connection reliability. Our upcoming update includes several fixes for repeated confirmation prompts, devices not being discovered correctly, and connections failing to complete. The promotional offer was intended as a thank-you to early supporters, not as a requirement for leaving a positive review. We understand your frustration and appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention. Please try the new version once it becomes available. We hope the improvements will provide the experience you originally expected.
