About

Bearing™ is a field almanac for naturalists. It gathers 10 public-data corpora — tides, weather, sky events, phenology, bird migration, UV, pollen, and hurricane forecasts — into one quiet, museum-quality dashboard that answers a single question: "What's happening in nature this week, where I am?" Open Bearing and your whole region is on one calm page: tonight's sky, the next high tide, the week's weather, what's blooming, which birds are moving. No feed, no noise. — NO LOGIN. NO ADS. NO TRACKING. NO CLOUD SYNC. Bearing runs on your device and never sends your location anywhere we control. Your region is stored locally. Every data request goes directly to a US government weather, tide, or science endpoint — not through us. — WHAT YOU SEE • Sky — sunrise, sunset, civil/nautical/astronomical twilight, moon phase and illumination, moonrise and moonset, and meteor-shower peaks (Perseids, Geminids, Quadrantids flagged at their peak) • Tides — high and low water from the nearest NOAA CO-OPS station (130+ marquee stations bundled, covering all US coasts plus Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands) • Weather — National Weather Service 7-day forecast, frost-risk and heat-advisory alerts, climate-normal context • Phenology — bloom, leaf-out, fruit-ripen, migration, and emergence events keyed to your USDA Plant Hardiness Zone (180+ events) • Birds — migratory species arriving and departing your state (60+ species across all four US flyways, USFWS-derived timing) • Health — UV index for outdoor planning (live from EPA), a regional pollen calendar, and a sun-safety calculator • Storm — NOAA National Hurricane Center active-storm alerts when a cone of uncertainty enters your region — ON YOUR WRIST AND HOME SCREEN A companion Apple Watch app and complication put the next tide, the next sky event, and today's UV a glance away. A configurable Home Screen and Lock Screen widget keeps your region's headline in view, and Live Activities count down meteor-shower and king-tide peaks on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. — DESIGNED FOR DEPTH Serif typography. A parchment-and-ink palette. iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and dark mode all native. Every card opens to a detail view with the underlying data. — DATA SOURCES NOAA Tides & Currents · National Weather Service · NOAA National Hurricane Center · USFWS Migratory Bird Program · USDA Plant Hardiness Zones · USA-NPN Phenology Network (CC BY 4.0) · EPA UV Index · CDC pollen reference · IAU Meteor Data Center (shower catalog) · AMS meteor calendar (learn more) — WHAT BEARING IS NOT Not a social network, a gamified life-list, a scanner, or a data-collection tool. It will not nag you. It does not have a "streak." Open it to plan a hike, a tide-pool trip, a bird walk, a meteor watch, a sunrise paddle, or a sunset cocktail. A field guide for a quieter way of being outside. — NOT FOR NAVIGATION OR LIFE-SAFETY Tide, weather, and storm figures are predictions that can be delayed, incomplete, or wrong. For watches, warnings, and forecasts, rely on the National Weather Service (weather.gov) and the National Hurricane Center (hurricanes.gov) directly. — Bearing is an independent app from Rizk Corsight, LLC and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NOAA, the National Weather Service, USDA, USFWS, EPA, the CDC, the National Hurricane Center, the USA National Phenology Network, the International Astronomical Union, the American Meteor Society, or any other organization referenced in the app. Phenology data from the USA National Phenology Network (usa-npn.org) is used under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
