Free Fantastic Language Literacy App Birth - 4
I have been recommending Beginning with Babble free app for several years to pediatricians, SLP’s, family, friends and acquaintances with babies/toddlers, and grandparents. Now that I’m a grandparent, I get daily texts myself with great language and literacy activities and so do the parents. Honestly, the ideas are awesome. Even though, I’m a speech-language pathologist there is always a new idea or an old one that I may have forgotten about to try with my granddaughter. Kudos to LEAP, the non-profit in Chicago, who developed Beginning with Babble. Thank you to Dr Jan Wasowicz for recommending this app 5 years ago to me at one of your SPELL-Links Learning By Design workshops.

I read about this app in an article about early learning
The article was very well-written and discussed the science behind why so many learning methods fail our kids and which ones work so I had really high hopes for the app. The user experience is a little frustrating to start. The start screen is a pale green with white text that I could barely make out. I had the same problem others mentioned where the keyboard wouldn’t go away and let me continue but I was able to get it to go away. The concerning thing is that it appears to have typos. There is a category in the 2 - 2.5 yo group called “More Than Words” or something similar with multiple activities and then the next one is called “Mor Ethan Words” with 1 activity. Under “Age Range Settings” it says “…recieve tips…”. I was under the impression that this app is supposed to help my kid get a boost on reading so if no one in the development of the app caught that error how can I be sure that the app teaches spelling rules correctly?

Great but if you have two kids...
I have two kids under two and the app is great but you can only have one kid on it. I wish there was an option for multiple kids.
Great tips for supporting development!
These simple tips make a big difference. That are east to do and support skill development.
Frozen x 2
My wife and I both tried installing this on our own iPads (Air 2 and 3). For both of us, the installation progress bar appeared to complete, but the screen just sat. Each time, we gave it 25 minutes, gave up, exited, and opened the app, only to find that it wouldn’t move past the home screen (not surprising, given that the installation phase hadn’t resolved).
We both deleted the app and tried again, with the same result.
It seems that whatever the problem was in the similar review from last October has not been resolved. Too bad.

Still broken
My sons speech therapist recommended this app and can’t get past the first page. Oh well.
Frozen
App is frozen on the main screen. Tried reloading with no success.
One star from 5 because
I love the hints and suggestions, BUT my frustration with the app is it can only be attached to one kid/ age group at a time. When I have toddlers 15 months apart, I wish I could get suggestions for both ages pulling up on my phone without me having to manually take one off and wait for new tips to load for the other. Frustrating to not be able to just have tips pop up periodically for each!

To Whom it may concern,
I love the suggestions. I wish I could set this app up for multiple children. I am a speech therapist and a grandma. I would like to have suggestions for different children at their different ages.
Awesome App
This is such a great app. Have also recommended to family and friends.
Needs improvements
I think this is a good app however I do wish it goes by child’s development instead of chronological age. My son 2 years old. He was born extremely prematurely and have developmental delays. The things suggested for his age group does not apply to him quite yet. Also this app works great on my apple products but I am constantly getting and error message on my Android products

More please
I didn’t have any problem setting it up. To get past the first page you have to hit the “return” key to finish the field you’re typing in. However I wish I could add both of my kids instead of just one. So far I can only access tips... Hoping there will soon be more features added.
Error
Like the previous user states, I cannot get passed the log-in page. Would love to use the app, if the error can be fixed.
Error
I’m interested in using the app, but I can’t get past the first page. An error message pops up but deleting and re-downloading the app has not addressed the issue.
Can’t get past first page
I can’t scroll down to tap Save after entering my child’s information. There also isn’t a button to minimize the keyboard on that page. Since I can’t get past this first step the app is useless.
I wish I could add more than one child.
I would give this five stars if I could figure out how to add more than one child. Are there any plans to add this option?
