Mostly bot accounts
I always get matches or people saying Hi 👋🏼 but NEVER get replies to my messages - so I’m starting to wonder if these are just bot accounts keeping me engaged with the app.
Random account warnings
I had the original BFF app with no issues. I took a long break and came back to this new one. I finished setting up the app with new pictures of myself (haircut) and pictures that it asked for each category. About an hour later, I was issued a warning about inappropriate behavior, but I had only requested to join a few groups and liked a couple of profiles. I sent in a message to support because I couldn’t figure out why I did that was inappropriate. I went to bed and woke up to another warning saying a picture of Dino nuggets was removed because it goes against community guidelines. The picture was under their preset “your camera roll’s recent food highlights” category. I had 3 other labels for foods on my page, so I was confused. I went through the guidelines and couldn’t find anything against the picture. I deleted my account in less than 24 hours of making it.

Profile picture verification is annoying
The fact that it’s so annoyingly pushy about having your profile picture as your face is just really irritating. I understand the reason behind it, but chill out. Specially with all the verification process… overall not a good app.

Got a picture reported within 3days because my bong was in the pic even tho I’m in a legal state! With a medical card! Don’t care what stupid response I get to this I’m still smoking and you can’t change my review.
Not “inclusive”, only same gender matching regardless of sexuality, ideological bias
Impossible to make friends, and the people on here are toxic and self-righteous and bigoted anyway so why bother even trying.
I thought the new version would let you meet people of any gender. I am FTM and gay so don’t have much in common with most other men, but I am only allowed to see male profiles. If it is to prevent romantic relationships, it is going off the assumption that everyone is straight. Men are my romantic interests and women are my platonic interests, yet all I am allowed to see are men. It has fake inclusivity virtue signaling yet it is exclusionary by design. If people don’t want friends of the opposite gender they should have the option to block them from seeing their profile, but it shouldn’t make everyone only able to see their own gender. And I tried selecting the nonbinary option and was only able to see other nonbinary people in the area who all seem to follow the exact same hostile groupthink.
Also there were only 20 profiles for me to look at and I’m in a big city. I guess not many people actually use this app? Or maybe men don’t? At least it doesn’t make you pay to look at peoples profiles, not that it helps my situation. I’ve had better luck making platonic friends on dating apps since I can actually interact with women.
Also this app allows discrimination and bigotry if it’s against the “bad” identities according to the narrow ideology it follows. It only bans discrimination towards “marginalized” groups, not realizing many people in “privileged” identities are factually marginalized for that same identity in their local environment or experience marginalization from institutions and systems that follow exclusionary and psychologically harmful IDpol ideology. I’m a leftist but all bigotry is wrong and it is ridiculous when platforms allow certain forms of bigotry just because their flawed political framework says it’s okay.

No longer able to make a profile
I have been off and on bff for a few years. The past 3 or 4 times I have downloaded it (since early this year), it gives an error message whenever you go to make a profile after putting in a code. Ive tried a handful of times at different times since beginning of 2026 and even reached out to support with no answer. Crazy.

No foreign country support
I don’t know what happened but I went from using BFF all the time in various countries to deleting the app.
I can’t even use it in London or anywhere in Europe it seems.

AI verification beware
This app requires AI ID verification via selfie. Even if it says it’s safe and doesn’t store your data, there are plenty of events by now where an AI verification company gets hacked and all the selfies/IDs stored on there got taken. Requesting a manual review did not work for me.

Why can I only match with people of the same gender? Why does it assume I can only have platonic friends of the same gender and everyone of a different gender is for dating? What is this, 1950?
Superficial but works
I have been using this app for over a year now and most of the people I have met are superficial but they are there for different purposes so like if you need a party friend or hiking buddy but nothing that goes beyond the surface level i would say it works for casual friends
