Don’t buy. Inaccurate clock. Time doesn’t match Bible chapters and verse

Great concept, but unfortunately it’s completely inaccurate. I noticed that many of the verses either do not exist in the Bible or are listed under the wrong chapter and verse.
I first realized this when I wanted to read more about a verse that appeared on my clock. When I looked it up, I discovered it wasn’t the correct reference. For example, at 3:32, the app displayed John 3:32 as: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart!”
First, that verse is incomplete. That immediately led me to look it up. When I did, I found that this verse is actually John 16:33 (not John 3:32), and the final words were omitted. Jesus finishes the sentence with, “I have overcome the world.” That is a very important part of the verse to leave out. Not only was the text incomplete, but the chapter and verse reference didn’t match the time shown.
I initially thought this might be a one-time mistake, but the next example proved otherwise. The time read 3:38, and the verse displayed was Genesis 3:38: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep.”
This is clearly incorrect. Why would Genesis mention the very first verse of the Bible in chapter 3? In reality, that passage is from Genesis 1:1–2. In the NIV, it reads: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.”
Furthermore, Genesis chapter 3 does not even have a verse 38, it only has 24 verses. This is a significant error.
Because of these repeated inaccuracies, I am giving this app one star. Please fix these issues. This cannot simply be dismissed as a minor bug.

Response from developer

Hi debtfreejourney, thank you for this incredibly detailed review. I really appreciate you taking the time to document these examples. It shows you genuinely care about scripture accuracy, and I respect that deeply. You gave me great feedback to work on, so I have to say again, thank you for voicing your concern! I want to address both the design choices and the errors you found: On the verse references: The Bible Clock is designed a bit differently than traditional "chapter clocks." Instead of locking every minute in the 3:00 hour to only John 3 verses, I intentionally pull from across the Bible to give you more variety throughout your day. So at 3:38, you might see Genesis. Not because it's a mistake, but because I don't want the entire hour to feel repetitive. The goal was taking this route to experience the full breadth of Scripture. That said, you found legitimate errors, and I own those completely. The John 3:32 example is a problem. That verse should never display incomplete text or the wrong reference. That was human error on my end, and I apologize. As a solo developer manually curating over 1,400 verses (across multiple translations), I clearly missed some. That's on me. One quick clarification: The app is completely free. There's no purchase required to use the core features of the app. But I understand your frustration isn't about cost; it's about trust and accuracy. I'm actively working on a major update to review every single verse reference and ensure completeness. Your examples will be prioritized. If you're open to it, I'd love for you to try again after that update drops. Thank you for helping me make this better. Truly. God bless 🙏

Practicing my faith

Holy Hours has made it so convenient to practice my faith! I leave it out on my desk as an aesthetic clock, that also helps me read scriptures when I’m studying for my tests.

Response from developer

This means so much to us, Sarah! We specifically designed Holy Hours to be that "aesthetic desk companion" that turns moments of study stress into moments of peace. We want any hour of the day to be faithful. Thrilled it's helping you stay grounded during tests! 🙏
