It isn’t letting me to count the butterflies
Great butterfly id app
I used this app for the last 3 Big Butterfly Counts, one improvement I would like to see is the ability to save a profile including location, number of counters, as filling it out each time is tedious. Otherwise great app.
Working again 2025!
After not working at the start of the count (on my phone anyway!), when the version said it should work, I deleted and then downloaded the version available from just a few days ago! Now off to count those butterflies. Yay!

App freezes on launch. iOS 15.8.4 Removing and reinstalling makes no difference. This is very disappointing as I make many recorded counts over the years. Edit: app update version 8.5.2 posted on the 23rd of July has fixed the app and it is now working on iOS 15.8.4

App freezes on opening. Deleting and re downloading has made no difference. iOS 15.8.4 and according to the description, it should work on iOS 14. Disappointing as I was going to take part for the first time
App not working
App feeezes on iPad and iPhone OS15.8.4 despite saying it should work for OS14 and above. Disappointed.
2025, not working!
I have taken part in the Count for a lot of years, but this year the app wont work, only get a full screen banner saying Butterfly Count. Have deleted, re - downloaded, checked and it says ‘works on this phone’.
No controls visible, or tabs to open. A pity, was looking forward to the count as there seem to be a lot of butterflies this year. Just thought I’d write, as I see just one other person saying its not working this year.

Different species
What do I do if I observe a species not on your id list. I saw a butterfly with similar colouring but very different wing shape.

Needs to save place
It would be very helpful to have the app remember details eg area (garden) and nearby town as it is annoying having to enter the same thing every day. Of course it would be necessary to be able to change this if out and about. But for those of us in the same place each day this would be helpful.

Cannot stay logged in at present. Repeatedly asks me to accept new policy of some description. Can't see another way to contact developer other than leaving a review.

We have a relatively large garden full of inscect loving plants plus two ponds. Despite this, this has been the worst year yet for sitings of butterflies and moths. Since March I can say I have seen about three butterflies, all Red Admiral. We haven’t even had our large quota of Ladybirds, what are we doing wrong. Is this what are we to expect in the future.

Butterfly’s mean the world to me and are my life I love theme and hate to think of a world without theme less couler in the air and love taking part in this knowing it will save theme

Hi, thanks for making this. It would be soo much better if you added a scale diagram for IDing. These butterflies are rarely larger than the smartphone screen displaying them so it seems crazy not to give an indication of size when that’s so crucial for a good ID. Great otherwise, thanks!
You can’t use it after July 2022
When you try to count, it says the count starts July 2022! If it’s no longer active why is it on the App Store?
Brilliant concept but far too few butterfly options
This is just what is needed to quickly identify, locate and record 17 very common butterflies. Unfortunately no options to add additional species, so flawed in its design as this gives an artificially high record for those species listed with no returns for other notable species, such as the Heaths, Fritillaries, Graylings and Wall. Very disappointing. Also includes 3 random moths and a Scotch Argus! Please add an ‘Other’ category with options to add species names in the next year’s version of this App.

Easy to do
15 min coffee break proved perfect time to do this. On a casual glance didn't think I'd have much to do but once start looking surprised by number of varieties flitting around
2years later done it again at my sisters garden whilst having coffee. Highlight being a comma, identified through the app.
