Shame it always show Herring Gull when it’s not possible

Is great sometimes but get lots of herring gulls when not possible

No good

Completely wrong id of birds.

Only knows very common birds

This app is not useful at all. It will not pick up a loud cry in the foreground (because it can’t identify it?!) but will suggest easy names for sounds in the far background, or identify gulls and ducks when there are none for miles around.

I thought this app was amazing…

…it seemed to find a huge variety of birds on my short walk. Suspiciously so.

I tested it by going on to the RSPB website and playing individual bird songs. An epic fail I’m afraid with only a few easy ones correct and most wrong.

No option but to delete this app now I’m afraid - even free apps have to work!

Absolute waste of time.

A single wren singing at the end of my garden. Recognising as a starling. Useless.

Not that good.

App thought a Wren was a Herring Gull.
Might need some more work!?

Useless .. complete con

The moment I click to listen - even in total silence it immediately says Goldfinch 99% certain !
Then with no bird sounds around it listed Woodpeckers and loads of Herring Gulls
I know a few birds but none of the above were correct . It didn’t even recognise a swarm of noisy Sparrows that landed in our bushes

Try the free Merlin ID app .. choose your actual location in settings .. perfect - just remember to delete all the recordings if you are short of space

Rubbish

Doesn’t recognise anything, even when it’s being played by another phone

Identifies swallows as herring gulls

What a rubbish app. I don’t know many birds and hoped this would help me. But no. It only did okay with robins, wrens and blackbirds. Didn’t even hear the wood pigeons and thought the swallows were herring gulls.

Confused .app

Good identification of a wren a few feet away. Also blackbird. But also gave me repeated Great Spotted Woodpecker and herring gull many time when they definitely weren’t around. Said a chaffinch was a blackbird, tree sparrow and nightingale!
Brillant idea for an ap but needs refinement.

Pretty useless

Seems to think many birds are Starlings! We don’t have them. Suggestions often seem totally random and totally beyond belief.

Herring Gulls

The app is obsessed with Herring Gulls even if the loudest bird is not a herring gull.

Doesn’t appear to retain the full list

The app is quick identifying birdsongs, listing them every couple of seconds. It adds a new song listing on screen 10 songs, but no more. I can’t see how to view any earlier songs noted, great shame.

Birds

I think the app needs to be updated with bird noises at night by the sea. I don’t think it is recognising what i hear at night. I put it on and it states black bird but i don’t think so. It needs to update sounds of potential eegrits, oyster catchers, cormorants etc.

Does not really identify anything

The idea would be great if only it worked

A little disappointed

I thought this was a great app to pick up bird songs, but it seems to keep saying there are Herring Gulls and I know it’s not as I can see and hear the buzzards above me. It ID’d a pair of Peregrine Falcon as Blackbirds or Tawny Owls? Wish it didn’t scroll so fast or there is a way you can scroll back to see what the other birds it’s picked up.

Disappointed

This app seems to think everything is a herring gull

Doesn’t seem to know that many birds

This app picks up common garden birds, but sometimes when I can see a bird but want to know what kind of bird it is by the song, it tells me Robin or Blackbird. Sometimes it doesn’t seem to hear what I can hear, e.g. an owl or even seagulls. If it isn’t sure, it says Herring Gull. Disappointing.

Is EVERY bird a Starling?

NOT impressed. Loves to identify starlings when there are none around. Also herring gulls 5 miles from the (calm) sea in the middle of a thick wood. And do wrens live up trees in such woods?

Also, no stop/start, or ‘save’ facility that I could find.

No, not for me.

Random bird names with 99% confidence

Despite listening to a single and very distinctive bird, it kept changing its mind about what it was, yet every prediction had 99% confidence. It even failed to pick up a pigeon when it popped up.
