What's New in bitchat mesh

1.7.0

July 9, 2026

bitchat now act like a walkie-talkie! • push-to-talk voice — hold the mic to talk live, in private chats and in the public mesh channel. voice streams while you speak; if the other side misses it, it lands as a voice note. • mesh bridging — separate mesh pockets in the same area now find each other. when anyone nearby has internet, flipping the single "mesh bridge" switch lets their phone carry chat between islands — plus sealed private messages for people who are offline right now. every bridged message is signed by its sender, so nothing leaves the radio without consent, and a per-message toggle keeps anything you want nearby-only. • a livelier quiet mesh — see hints of recent conversations nearby, wave to say hi, leave a note for whoever passes by later with /drop, and watch the radar sweep for activity around you. • messages that never give up — writing to someone who just walked out of range? the message now waits, rides along with people passing by, or slips across the bridge — and shows a little parcel while it travels — instead of failing. • settings, tidied — info and settings now live together: appearance, voice, connectivity, and location access in one panel. • faster location channels — nearby notes and channels load quicker, with honest connecting states instead of endless spinners. also fixed: received photos stuck as a grey box, the mic dying on press-and-hold in private chats, ghost duplicates when a nearby device renews its identity, and clearer offline icons in chat headers.

Great app for blackout

Installed this app, if I need in the future

So good I’m writing a review for an App for the first time in my life

It does exactly what it claims. No having to create an account, no real setup process of any kind, no ads. You just download it and you are off to the races immediately. It is insanely intuitive to the extent that I believe my grandmother could probably figure it out in less than 15 minutes. Love that it uses tor. And lastly you don’t have to just use the mesh. You can also use geohash channels if you so desire. Instant 5 stars I look forward to seeing what comes next in the future.

Fantastic app. Feels like it’s out of a psyfi movie. Works fantastically and instantly. We juts got to get ppl to use it now

Very useful at crowded events

Used this app to talk to my friend at a music festival when cell towers were jammed. The range is disappointing but when we were able to connect chatting worked just fine. Five stars since the range issue isn’t the app’s fault

good idea

good idea. but if you can’t save contacts, what’s the point of a random, one-time anonymous chat?
