Gives me the control I want. If you know how to use your camera and you can learn it pretty quick, but there are a lot of settings to go through that said it’s a lot of power on the phone.
Also, I just love black magic design. It’s the only tech company I truly can say I support. Grant Petty is the man.

This is my “go to” video app when I need specific settings for a project.

Dynamic Zoom Gesture
I'm so incredibly thankful for this app! It is such a night and day difference from the default iOS camera.
I'd like to make a feature request, for an optional new gesture, that when enabled, would take the place of the default pinch to zoom gesture.
How it works: press and hold from anywhere on the opposite side of screen from record button, and it gives a haptic tick (letting you know it's engaged). From that point, sliding up/down would zoom in/out, with the screen's top/bottom representing being fully zoomed in/out.
Since gesture can be started from anywhere on that side of screen, but the boundaries stay fixed, sensitivity dynamically scales, based on where you started gesture from (ex. starting from higher, gives more room on screen to be able to slide down, for a precise, slow zoom-out. etc).
Also, when not recording, long-pressing the top/bottom corner of screen, would give it a haptic tick & temporarily pin the current zoom level, as the maximum/minimum limit. Repeating the gesture would clear the temporary limit.
Unlike maps or photos, video zoom always targets the center, making pinch-to-zoom redundant and a frequent cause of jerky footage. This single-finger gesture eliminates running out of screen real estate mid-zoom, and eliminates ever having to swipe a virtual wheel multiple times, in order to fully zoom in/out.
If successful, and if it ends up being intuitive, you could eventually add the same gesture to the record button side— to either control the most recently selected dial, OR allow user to assign it to something specific in settings.

Focus assist not working
No matter how much I mess with the settings I can’t seem to make the focus assist to work neither for peeking or coloured lines. Bought an iPhone 17pro just for shooting hoping to have a good experience with the black magic app but might have to look for another option of app

I love this app and everything behind it, but there’s one issue. It may just be me but my camera won’t flip. It’s just stuck in selfie mode. I reset the settings, logged out and back in, shut my phone off completely, but it won’t fix it. Please help! 🙏🏼
This is worth filming YouTube videos for!
The quality is so perfect for filming videos, if there’s a major grip I have with it, then it’s the fact that I can’t take pictures with it. Nonetheless, I love it.
Best iPhone Camera App for Serious Video Recording
I can highly recommend this app. It lets you change the camera settings to your liking and configure as a professional camera. You can link multiple iOS devices for multi camera setup (with the recommended iOS version) and designate one device as a controller and all others as remote cameras (while on the same wifi network or personal hotspot network). You can also select where you want to save your files to an external device and select an external microphone.

The Black Magic app is absolutely perfect. Every part of it is intuitive and easy to understand. It can elevate your video making from rookie to professional. I have practically stopped using my DSLR for video making in favor of the more nimble approach of using the iPhone with black magic. Thank you for making this available to us folks.
