Soon to be former blink customer

I’ve been a blink customer from the start. At the beginning they had their quirks but I chalked it up to growing pains and stuck with them and continued to support them as they grew. Since then they have focused more on subscription based model and paywalling features, cameras that are extremely unreliable, a system that when you try to click live view or view recordings takes so long that any potential thief or thread would have long had a jump on you and your property. And to make matters worse, myself and everyone I know with an Apple Watch for 3+ months now have been plagued with a notification dump glitch if you have your watch set to mirror notifications. If I’m not by my phone I still want to be alerted to my security. But instead due to some sort of app glitch, server glitch or whatever they have all notifications cached in such a way that when you receive a new notification it will make your watch buzz non stop with alerts for hours on end giving you every alert that blink recorded in the last 48 hours. I’ve been waiting for an update to finally fix this issue but it appears blink doesn’t care and I’ve just about had it and am considering switching to another company. Search google and you will find this is a wide spread issue and is known by blink but they want to point fingers at Apple rather than fix the problem. Thumbs down from me!

Latest update (8/4/2026) broke notifications

App is fine otherwise, notifications are now broken. Please test before you release.

Bugs?

I don’t know what’s going on with the app lately. When I first got the app couple years ago, it was for my mom’s camera, her and I could both view in. Now that I have my own cameras at my house, the app barely lets me on- sometimes i’ll click on one of the cameras to watch it live, and then it kicks me out of the app. Or it’ll say something about the network not available and it just won’t load.

Awful experience

Got a Blink video doorbell and all seemed fine. Then the trial cloud subscription expired and I realized I needed an ongoing subscription or I had to purchase a sync module in order for doorbell video recording to keep working. First red flag. So I tried to buy a sync module and wouldn’t you know the $50 module want available just the $140 module was available. So I tried to select a monthly cloud subscription but I wasn’t even able to log into my account to do so. Spent ages with tech support to no avail. It would take my credentials and then load a blank page. So I bought a different doorbell camera that supports local storage. Goodbye Blink, my experience using your app and product was abysmal and your money grabbing nonsense was the nail in the coffin.

Plenty of bugs

Bad app plenty of bugs. Don’t buy blink cameras

Garbage

Doesn't even open keeps crashing stupid company... steals from the poor all for them...

Not bad for home viewing, terrible for security

First, the actual app looks nothing like the advertised screenshots. The camera thumbnail lays out ok on an iPhone, but doesn’t scale, and only takes up half of an iPad screen. Lots of wasted real estate for views that were already hard to see.

If you opt for higher resolution images/videos, it’s ok, but this comes at the expense of battery life. In fact, they advertise 2 years, but if you modify settings to anything reasonable, you give up half of that.

Regarding security, well, just don’t expect much. The cameras don’t pick up movement towards/away from the camera, and side to side always misses the first few seconds after the trigger.

If you need battery powered for some reason, these are ok….but if you have other options, use them

Cameras lagging

We love blank security system. It’s the most easiest set up that I think my children could do it. It’s nice that you have an option to either use lithium batteries or hook it up to a different power source. I do wish that lithium batteries were less expensive, but that has nothing to do with Blink. The only negative thing that I really have to say is there are times when you go to get into one of your cameras and it lags and doesn’t allow you to get on right away and sometimes you have to try several times. That’s extremely inconvenient because you could hear a noise outside and just want to look on the camera without going outside and it doesn’t allow you to get right on. Other than that it’s a great system

Get any other cameras.

These cameras are literally just alright. Bare minimum. Cheap and act like it. They are blotchy, FREEZE ALL THE TIME, and the app…. The fkn app is a joke. A JOKE. You can never look at the cameras when you want to. They won't load. Just go spend a bit more money elsewhere. I wish we had and when we replace these, we will NEVER get Blink again.

Missing functions

When I click ‘select all’ it’s right there in the phrase. Select ALL not some of the events so I can mark them ALL as read. I’m irritated about having to scroll and wait for the rest of the list to populate so I can finish selecting ALL for like the fourth time to get rid of the badge. Yeah, I could pause the camera while I work in the yard but then I’d probably forget to reset it.

While we’re on that-I just want it armed but snoozed all of the time. I don’t like having to snooze it every 23:59. I want it armed all of the time so if there’s an incident I’ll probably have record of it. I don’t need the interruption though while I’m working. Pls add that feature.

Fireproof!

After fire we were able to reconnect no issues!

useful

very good !!!!

Awful

Use any other service if you want cameras that don’t shut off and disconnect when you’re not home

Great camera system!

I have been using blink cameras for about five years now and I have been extremely happy! They were able to catch a crook that was trying to break into my car in the middle of the night and my cameras were there to give to the police and catch the crook! Thank you, Blink!

Just OK. Could be so much better

I chose blink and an echo hub 5 for my upstairs flat. Doesn’t always notify me of a doorbell. Does sometimes when it feels like it and many times it just doesn’t. I’ve done it myself to check and it’s not reliable at all. You’d think for the amount of money I paid I’d get a good service but just don’t. Poor.

INCESSANT Apple Watch Notifications

For the last few months, one motion event will trigger 20-30 notifications on my Apple Watch from detections hours to days ago. Even if I try to mute the notifications they still push through. They also pop up through CarPlay while I am driving and are incredibly distracting. I will not renew my yearly subscription and will switch to a different camera company.
