Unskipable animations

Good app but really frustrating you have to sit through the “breath in breath out” animation screen before it actually blocks apps. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Also the selector dial on the timer needs a manual entry option to type in the timer time, the dial is way too sensitive and hard to use for short durations.

More people need to know about this

Highly recommend. I’ve been using this app for about 8 months or so now. Initially, there were some technical issues that seemed to have been resolved. For example, I’d scan my Blok card and it either it didn’t work or some apps would still randomly be accessible. This no longer happens and it has been working very smoothly for me now. Love the schedule feature to customize it to your day. It’s so easy to get caught up in doomscrolling for hours and with every social media app following the model that TikTok has, it’s impossible to stay away from it without completely deleting all social media. This allows me to stay on the platforms I like but limit my time on them how I wish. I really enjoy the fact that I need a physical card to unlock the apps I want to access. It’s easy to travel with or leave somewhere inconvenient where you’ll be too lazy to go unlock it lol. Helped me with my phone addiction tremendously and I always feel so much better when my phone is Blokd. Whenever someone complains to me about their phone/scrolling problem, I always recommend this!!

App doesn’t work

I loved this when it worked but for months the schedule hasn’t turned on or off correctly, breaks don’t reblock after, and not all modes work manually. I have emailed and filled out the form okie n

Happy to get back my time/life

Reclaiming my life one blok at a time

Never been happier

Blok has genuinely helped me be way more productive throughout the day. It cut down my doomscrolling a ton and made me more intentional with how I use my phone. Super simple idea, but it actually works.

Poor Value

For $70 for an NFC card I’d expect to at least get scheduling and multiples modes included. $120 a year for these. Very disappointing.

Rude customer service, interface could be better as well.

decent premise of the product, definitely difficult at first to get used to but rewarding once you do

my only thing is the rude customer service, which is a huge dealbreaker for me, good product or not. id stick to the product otherwise, but this turned me off from them entirely.

Very misleading

First issue:
1. It’s a paid subscription.

I bought this thinking it was a one-time purchase, but it’s not; it’s $50 a year.

2. It doesn’t work on two devices at least that I’ve found.

I bought this on my iPhone to help me with a shopping addiction and ordering out too much. I tried downloading it onto my iPad and signing in, but I got a message stating 'NFC not available on this device.' I looked up solutions, but none of them worked. So, this app is pretty much useless to me now, and I’m out $50.

Buggy, Unfinished, and Degraded Features

I like blok. I genuinely do. However there are multiple things that really keep the product from competing with other similar items. The first one being: stop releasing or updating features before it’s guaranteed to work! The most egregious ones being reliable blocking and unblocking of apps as scheduled. That’s the bare minimum for the service, so why is it not working as expected? Why does blocking on a schedule not necessarily block the apps and why does the end of the time frame not always unblock the apps? Second example: why did the new update firstly break the timer feature? The old version made so much more sense interface wise, and more importantly, it works. If we as intelligent users cannot figure it out (given that an app update tutorial was not provided upon update, which should’ve happened given how many changes occurred), then it should be intuitive to use. Why is not blocking after I click yes? Thirdly: the app developer either needs to hire more people or reduce the cost. This is not a well finished product that should be selling for as high as it is. It’s a pet project designed to compete with Brick at best (down to the name), but it’s clearly the inferior product, from design to development to support. You’re telling me we’re paying $50+ for this tiny plastic NFC chip in this flimsy case which doesn’t even work if it’s on a magnetic surface (despite it being magnetic in design, which shouldn’t be the case if it interferes with usage)? Altogether, would not really recommend until the developer gets it together.

Response from developer

Hey there! We're so sorry you're feeling this way, it definitely shouldn't have gotten to that. All bugs you're mentioning should be fixed at this point. In any case, thank you for sticking with it and saying you genuinely like Blok despite all that - means a lot. We're a tiny team with real work to do here. Email support@blok.so with what you're seeing on schedules and I'll dig in personally and try to make it right.

The Blok scanner doesn’t always detect

Love the concept, but frustrating when the Blok scanner isn’t detected when phone / Blok are contacted as specifically instructed. Wish I could rate it higher, but its only jobs are to keep you off apps (success! 5/5) and scan (occasionally unsuccessful, 3/5)

Buggy, inconsistent, waste of money

You can only block up to a certain amount of apps on the block list. The allow list doesn’t fully work as some apps are still accessible. Websites are categorized as apps. It feels like a vibe coded product purely made to make a quick buck.

Great when it works

This product is life changing when it works, but the schedule feature of the app works about half the time. Sometimes it doesn’t turn on, sometimes it doesn’t turn off. It used to work much better.

Broken

Schedule feature is programmed poorly. Never been able to use this app without something glitching

Buggy

It works really well when it works, however, when I update my settings (which apps are blocked or for how long) it often blocks only some but not all of the ones I set it to block. I’ve tried to save and resave multiple times but it doesn’t always work. Disappointed.

Complaint

So I did buy a subscription, but I accidentally used a non-accessible account. Sure it works but I can’t cancel the membership. I’ll just keep getting charged. They cant cancel it on their end it has to be through an account. Just something that has to be fixed. And their customer service, rude, they ignored my problem, told me to never email again, and told me to basically suck it up. Terrible

I’m confused

I’m trying to set up this card blokd right now and its buttons aren’t working. I find it funny it’s giving me the option to review before I even do anything yet.

Amazing when the app works

I love the concept but the schedule part of the app works about half the time
