Bluetooth MIDI Connect User Reviews

Micro key solution:

If you have an old Microkey Air you need to update your Microkey’s firmware on a computer for this to work. First download an install the windows/Mac driver and check it installed. Then download the firmware updater, but before running it you need to switch to usb mode, then put the keyboard into update mode by holding left octave button and leftmost key when plugging the usb cable in, otherwise the updater won’t connect to the keyboard. Update the firmware then unplug, switch to wireless mode, then go back to your iOS device and the Bluetooth midi app will connect to the keyboard.

2 points off because bad design/user experience and it shouldn’t be THIS hard. The update mode key combo should have been written in giant red writing on the update page, not just hidden in the pdf instructions, and without knowing the key combo, the firmware updater itself just gave a nondescript could not connect warning rather than guiding you to the solution, it would have taken 10 seconds for the update coder to write “please check your device has been put in midi update mode” rather then the obtuse “device not found”.

One wonders how many of these things have ended up in landfill over user frustration.

Junk software

Korg nano key air 61 basically rendered useless. It’s gone from being my favourite method of making music to a frustrating mess of trying to fix using useless updates and reinstalls. Korg obviously gave up on support some time ago, and decided to just leave all us customers hanging in the hope they might fix it (one day). I’ll never buy another Korg product again, and my nano key is going in the bin. I’ll use another manufacturers controller instead.

Terrible drivers and support

KORG is notorious for terrible drivers on Windows and sporadically on iOS. BLE MIDI app worked for a while but now detects Microkey for a few seconds before disconnecting. KorgUSA responded they are sorry I’m having problems and fob me off on their software support which just autogenerates a message it’s not their problem.

Great tool

I use this for connecting to the Bluetooth receiver plugged into my Helix Stomp XL. Works a charm, even with a Bluetooth page turner connected to the same device.

Works perfect on Ipad IOS 15.6.1

Needed this app with my Korg Microkey Air which I was hesitating to buy since they were many reviews, stating that it would not work with Bluetooth. After adding this app, but keyboards works great on all keyboard and synth apps my Ipad pro, resulting in true wireless experience as no cables / hubs etc are connected which is ideal for traveling. It is worth noting that is app is only used once afterwards you don’t need to open it anymore. It is not active. Hope this helps!

Bluetooth not working on iOS despite the last update

Hi,

The Bluetooth isn’t not working on iOS despite the last update.
Could you please do something?

Thanks you per advance.

Eric

It just worked. Thanks.

The easiest app of all the BLE MIDI apps I tried. It just worked. Thanks.

Works fine in 2022

Works solidly and easily with IOS 15 in 2022 with my Korg Microkey Air. I think many of the bad reviews are from a while back when there were iOS issues.

Still only iOS 13 support after 15 has been out for a month

Would love to use the Bluetooth feature on my new microkey air, but this is needs a serious update. I’m considering returning.

Connection worked

Helped my microkey Air 37 key keyboard connect with my iPad Pro with the 14.6 iOS update. Ridiculous that this had to be another step though. Fix this in your hardware KORG or at least give us better instructions!

Korg Support is non existent

The link on their site for the 61 key variant firmware doesn’t work, phone support doesn’t exist.

We need an update. Please release

We need a bt update for microkey air 37

This App Doesn’t Work

Don’t buy a KORG Micro Key on the assumption that you can connect to the iPad via Bluetooth via this app. It doesn’t work - misleading advertising by KORG to say it does.

You gotta jump thru hoops

I first purchased a used microkey air 25 from guitar center. Couldn’t get it to work on Bluetooth. Sent it back and brought a brand new one. Same issue. After tons of frustration and dealing with a rude ass korg customer service guy I figured it out. First connect the keyboard to your Mac/pc and download the latest drivers for windows or Mac with your keyboard connected via usb. Then download the iOS update for 13 from the korg website . Finally get this app and bam u in the game. U get it easily explained which is what Korg miserably failed at. My pain, your pleasure.

Still doesn’t connect to iPhone 8

Please fix this ongoing issue. I updated everything, still doesn’t connect. This is ridiculous...

Update:
They asked me to restart my phone, failing that, contact support... idiotic... what is this...?

Still will not connect my nanokey studio

I am running iOS 13.3 and my brand new nanokey studio will not connect. Come to find out this has been an issue for a while. Korg pleaaaassse address this!

Did Not connect

App lists the available midi keyboard, but it cannot connect to it. Big disappointment, as this defeats the purpose of buying a Bluetooth midi keyboard.

Doesn’t work at all

Doesn’t work at all and the online support is way out of date, suggesting downloads and links to instructions - all of which don’t work. Come on, Korg. Microkey is great but we need to be able to connect to iOS.

This doesn’t work

I bought a microkey board and I downloaded this app and the Bluetooth connection doesn’t work with this app not sure if it’s outdated.

Update: Still not working. I regret so much buying this keyboard

Does not work!

I just downloaded this App. It does not connect my iPhone 11 Pro Max with microKEY AIr. Waste of time!
