What's New in Bob Environmental
2.1.0
August 14, 2026
We’ve released a new update for Bob Environmental—built directly from your feedback and designed to make every sampling session more reliable. Here’s what’s new for Version 2.1.0: - Choose whether Water Lock turns on By default, Bob will ask whether to turn on the Water Lock each time you tap Start Sampling. That makes it easy to switch to another app and begin a workout while Bob continues collecting observations in the background. If you'd rather not be asked every time, go to Settings → Water Lock to Always On or Always Off. -More feedback when you start and stop sampling Bob now gives you haptic vibration feedback and submarine-style sonar ping when sampling starts and stops. Make sure Silent Mode is turned off to hear the ping. -Better motion data in real-world coordinates Bob does a better job converting your watch's motion and orientation sensors — acceleration, rotational velocity, and magnetic-field — from watch-based Cartesian coordinates into real-world Earth coordinates, making the data more useful for science analysis and future forecasting. - More resilient data capture Bob now saves observations to internal memory more often. If the app closes unexpectedly or your battery runs out, you’ll lose no more than three minutes of data.
