About

Boletus is a mushroom identifier by photo and a foraging journal: a map of your mushroom spots, GPS route recording, an offline mushroom guide and mushroom growing weather. Save your finds as you walk and remember where to return on your next mushroom hunt. Identify mushrooms by photo Point the camera at a mushroom or pick a photo from your gallery: Boletus suggests up to three similar species and shows the poisonous lookalikes you need to rule out. The photo is analysed right on your phone, so identification works in the forest without internet. When you log a find, choose the suggested species with one tap. A few identifications a day are free; with Boletus Premium there is no limit. Mushroom growing weather When to go for porcini? Boletus compares the weather at the places where you found porcini with the weather before your past finds, and shows the best days of the week ahead: excellent or average conditions. The map colours the right areas, and a month-long chart explains each day: rain, warmth, nights. Turn on a notice for excellent conditions. Requires Boletus Premium and an account. Build your own mushroom map Found porcini, chanterelles or birch boletes? Save the location and mushroom count, then add a photo or note. Your finds build a personal record of where you have picked mushrooms, so you can revisit productive spots on future walks. The map grows with the finds you record. Record your foraging walks Start a walk and Boletus records your route using GPS, including when your screen is off. Check your time, distance and mushroom count while recording. Each find stays linked to the walk, so you can review the route later and see what you found along the way. Keep a mushroom journal with photos Choose the mushroom and enter the count. Add details when they are useful: subtype, condition, size and the type of forest where it grew. Attach photos and notes to remember a patch of chanterelles or a promising clearing. Your frequently selected mushrooms appear first in the quick picker. Take offline maps into the forest Download the area you need before heading out. Once downloaded, the map is available without mobile service. GPS route recording and saving finds work without an internet connection too. Prepare your offline map at home and use it throughout your walk. Browse the offline mushroom guide Explore 226 species and subtypes with illustrations and photos, common and scientific names, seasonal information, growing environments and lookalikes. The built-in mushroom guide works offline, so you can browse it while you are in the forest. Keep your records close Start using Boletus without creating an account. Your walk history, finds and photos are stored on your phone. Save a backup of your data and photos in one file and restore it when needed. The app is available in 31 languages, with light and dark themes. Boletus Premium • Identification by photo with no daily limit • Mushroom growing weather for the places of your finds • Walks, finds and photos safe in the cloud, on any phone • A season recap worth keeping and sharing • Statistics by month, and this year against the last • Walk cards without the logo, in extra styles Choose a monthly or yearly subscription; the yearly plan starts with a free week for new subscribers. Renews automatically until cancelled. Cancel anytime in the App Store, at least a day before renewal. Record your first walk and start building your own map of mushroom spots. Important: identification by photo is a hint and can be wrong. Boletus does not confirm whether mushrooms are safe to eat, and the guide does not replace expert identification. Never eat a mushroom just because the app recognised it, and never eat any mushroom you are not completely sure about. What's New in Boletus

1.3.0

October 27, 2026

Identify by photo is more accurate: tap “Add another angle” and shoot the same mushroom from below or at the base of the stem, up to three photos per mushroom. The model now recognises almost three times as many mushrooms. The Mushroom guide has grown to 226 species and subtypes, with a photo for every species and a filter: All, Edible, Poisonous, Other. Offline map downloads no longer show a false error on a weak connection; the map keeps downloading on its own.
