Makes a file that won’t open in a browser

I guess this app does what it says and makes a .webloc file BUT in iOS you can’t then click on the saved file and open it in a browser, it just opens as a text file!
In some ways this isn’t the fault of the app as it’s the way Apple Files handles the .webloc extension but in my mind this makes this app completely pointless.

A five-star gem of an app

I’m updating my original review to assign 5 stars to this little app. The developer has been extremely responsive to feedback and with the latest release the last known (to me at least) annoyance is gone: no more & like characters in URL titles.

I joe use this app routinely on my iPhone at the gym when finding something useful that I want to store on my MacBook Pro; when traveling I do the same thing using my iPad Pro.

Like I said in my original review: with so much usefulness I can’t comprehend why people don’t rate this app more frequently.

I added support for dark mode now in ver 1.2 :)

Regularly locks up on share sheet of app using it

Good basic concept, unfortunately poor execution.

After only three uses of trying to save a .webloc to iCloud from inside the Twitter app, it reliably locks up the Twitter app without saving the url, requiring a force quit of the Twitter app.

I presume some memory problem, improperly handling of an error from iCloud (for instance a file name error) or some other bug is causing this lockup. There is no crash.

That this error cropped up so quickly bodes poorly for this app.

Response from developer

Hi ChristopherA, I think I fixed the issue you were encountering with trying to use the Bookmark To File app with the Twitter app. Please give the latest version 1.1 another try. Originally, when sharing from Twitter, Bookmark To File wasn't listed as one of the options by iOS. You got to try it in the unfortunate time when Twitter had changed their app so Bookmark To File is listed as a sharing option. I couldn't replicate a crash of the Twitter app (that might have been fixed by Twitter since), but I had to make an adjustment on my side for Bookmark To File to work with the way Twitter is sharing the link. Let me know if you encounter any further issues. Update: I just released version 1.2 which fixed another issue that you might have encountered. Please give the app another shot and let me know if you still encounter issues. It‘s really the goal to have all happy customers :)

Useful for my workflow

Many of my projects live in iCloud folders on my Mac and often include web URLs saved as .webloc files.

The problem was that I often find webpages in the evening on my iPad. They’ll get saved as Safari bookmarks and every couple of weeks I’ll leave myself a note to create .webloc files from the bookmarks on my Mac. Then file the .webloc and delete the Safari bookmarks. Boring.

Now, I just use this app to save .webloc files from my iPad directly to iCloud/Desktop all in one go and file them when I’m next on my Mac.
