No Apple Pay

It’s 2026 and you want me to copy my card details into the app? Must try harder

Rubbish service

Every time I’ve tried to use BP Pulse, I haven’t been successful. I’ve called customer service, and all I get is “I’m sorry.” I paid £60, and a refund takes 5 days- ridiculous. I’ve already deleted my account and destroyed the card.

Add features

Would nice if you could add simple things like we could see the percentage how much the Battery rather then walking all the time to the machine and check like any others GRIDSERVE, ESB… simple to use and friendly

Terrible

One of the most frustrating apps in the world despite trying 4 different cards the app wouldn't accept them. Pointless!

Very slow charging

Worst UK EV network

On top of already being one of the least reliable charging networks in the UK, the app now isn’t even usable because the app will incorrectly claim that you’re not physically close enough to a charger that you’re standing directly in front of, preventing you from starting a charge.

Frustrating

Why does a company that is connected to British Petroleum have the USA conveniently at the top of the list for phone numbers and UK/GB is difficult to find (not in alphabetical order)? Whole registration process was a pain. Unnecessarily repetitive and no predictive text, etc. I thought I was back in the 90’s. Having provided my payment details I’m now a bit concerned that security around the app will be poor too.

Expensive but easy to use

Expensive but easy to use. I received an email suggesting costs would be lower if I “joined “. This is absurd. When traveling I use the nearest and most convenient. In this case it was the rather pricey BP. I have taken another star off because they tried to influence my review

Never been able to create account

Email verification takes longer to arrive than the 15minutes you have to enter it, and if you do get an an email on time it reports an error and asks to come back later.

Charging

Cheap charging

Why is this seemingly so difficult?

I find myself standing in the middle of a strange city, next to a row of EV chargers that the shopping centre says is there, but no other platform has registered. Not Google, not Tap Electric, not Electroverse and not even BP Pulse… despite it being their charger. I am there with two other people who similarly perplexed as to how to proceed.

Together we work out that we need to download the app. That we then need to register, providing two sets of authentication, our e-mail and phone number (twice) and our home address. The SMS authentication codes fail to arrive before the 1m timeout, demanding that another is sent, which again arrives late, leaving us all stuck in a loop of codes that don’t match the authentication.

After 10mins, I’m in. I add a payment card, authenticate a zero payment. And we’re good to charge. I have to type in the charger ID number because the charger doesn’t appear on BP’s map but through a miracle of technology it does start charging… at 7.4kW. Not a number that was on the charger, and obviously not in the app as the charger wasn’t listed. It took thirty minutes to discover this. Fortunately I’m here for the day but it commits me to a long day of parking charges.

Then WHACK £60 comes off my card. I don’t think the car has absorbed an electron yet and at this rate, I’d have to charge for almost 18 hours and have a battery twice the size and entirely empty.

Loosing the will to live, to far invested, and optimistic enough to presume it’s a deposit that will be returned to us once charged, all three of us, disperse to get on with our days.

Today, the day after, a fag-packet calculation says I charged about £30 worth, but I’m still £60 down. The ‘Charge activity’ section of the app says “You haven’t made any charges yet” and I’m resigned to having to chase BP to find out what’s going on.

Conversely, I paid for the car parking in 15 seconds, using a contactless debit card. They didn’t want my name, e-mail, phone number, home address, nothing. Just payment.

Why is charging so difficult?

It doesn’t work

Nothing works like it should from creating an account to login in to adding a payment method. There are problems with everything not even customer support can help you.

Good but…..

A good fast charge … but the other three units on Winckley Square need fixing…. They have been out for some time. Then itvwoukd be brilliant

Works but lack of info

This charge app works OK, but only shows your charge duration, not the cost so far, SoC, or power delivered. This seems so obvious it leads me to think it was left off deliberately, as their prices are unusually high.

Mr

Dear BP Pulse, I want to formally express my dissatisfaction with your service, which has repeatedly failed. Even though I have a BP Pulse card and the app properly set up, I constantly face payment errors and problems Even when I tried to use the chargers at Hyde Park Corner, I was unable to access the service. As a result, I am forced to pay the much higher credit card rate. On top of being expensive, the system is unreliable and wastes my time. As a driver, I depend on reliable charging to do my job. Despite contacting support multiple times, the problems remain unresolved. This is unacceptable and I expect better reliability and proper support.

Charging bay issue @ BPT327

I would like to raise an issue regarding BP Pulse charger reference BPT327.

This charging point has two charging cables, but the charging bay is too small to allow two cars to connect and charge at the same time. This can cause unnecessary delays and makes it difficult for customers to use both chargers efficiently.

I would kindly ask BP Pulse to get in touch with the local council and request that the electric vehicle charging bay be made slightly larger, so that two cars can park and connect to the chargers at the same time. This would help customers save time and make the charging point much more convenient and efficient for everyone.

I hope BP Pulse and the council can look into this and make the necessary improvements.

Thank you,
