FAQ

What does Braille Scanner do?

Braille Scanner uses computer vision and machine learning to instantly convert pages of Braille into English text. It can then copy this text or read it aloud using Text-To-Speech functionality. This makes it useful for learning Braille, proofreading, and transcribing documents.

What types of Braille does it support?

Currently, Braille Scanner recognizes documents written in Unified English Braille (UEB Grade 1), also known as uncontracted Braille. It is trained to recognize single pages of paper and may not accurately recognize Braille on signs or other objects.

Is Braille Scanner free to use?

Yes, Braille Scanner is available for free. There are no subscriptions, in-app purchases, or registration required. All data processing stays on the device, and the app does not gather any analytics data.

How can Braille Scanner help me learn Braille?

Braille Scanner is an excellent tool for checking your written Braille when learning to type. You can scan your work and instantly see the corresponding English letters, helping you identify and correct mistakes as you learn.

Can I use the converted text in other apps?

Yes, the converted text from Braille documents can be copied directly from the app. This allows you to paste and use the transcribed text in other applications on your device for further editing, saving, or sharing.
