obvious bug

I don’t have a reason to use a camera right now. I already photographed the braille sign which isn’t in English. I denied the camera. The app stuck in an infinite loop of:

Ineffective

I downloaded this app to scan Braille text. It said document could not be found each time I tried to scan a page. I could not get the app to work.

Stupid and dumb

I was going in a elevator and the camera wasn’t doing the bail and it was just taking wierd photos. The elevatow got stuck for fiteen minits, I cried and I could read brail and stuff.

Horrible

This app is horrible and can’t pick up any documents

The idea is there

I wanted to see if this app was accurate so I could have something to recommend for parents/people that look after children and others that require Braille because not all read it. I write in Braille and have a fair idea and unfortunately the scanner is a bit off, out of 7 scans it tells me different letters and random punctuations where there is not and will often not scan a cell. There is no option to take a photo and scan it instead the default camera opens and makes it shotty. The potential is definitely there however there are others that work better.

Doesn’t work

Can see there is something to scan, generates a yellow box, blinks a bunch but won’t do anything but tel me to hold my device still.

Horrible

It constantly said the phone wasn’t steady enough, & if there was any wrinkle or markings on the paper, then it would read that material & infer what those random markings were saying. Immediately deleted after one set of Troy if 2 different documents.

Erkennt Dokument nicht

Erkennt das Dokument nicht, Versucht es ewig, läd die falschen Buchstaben und manuelles ändern wird nicht übernommen. Sehr schade

Good app and good concept

I just heard about this app from a magazine I read called talking book topics from nils, and thought I would give it a try, there are some difficulties in reading braille text yet where it doesn’t like to read the full document and I have some brailled material that I tried it with too. I also figured out it won’t even read text I braille out in perky duck from duxberry systems. It is a neat app though and I think it would be a great classroom tool for those teachers that can’t read braille to help the students with their work but I think think it could still use some more bug fixes in its ability to decider braille text better.

Great concept, but needs more dev

I absolutely love this… but it’s not yet developed enough for needs.

Any plans for Grade 2?! That would be a game changer.

And it would be great if it didn’t restrict identifiable material to printed page/page boundaries.

Great idea but doesn’t work

I found out about this app through the grapevine and tried it with a few different braille documents. Nothing but gibberish was produced. I think this is a fantastic idea; hopefully, the technology can be improved.

Response from developer

Hi, The current release of Braille Scanner supports Unified English Braille grade 1 and will not read other types of Braille. It hasn’t been setup to support languages other than English, how ever if you send me your document per the instructions below. I can look at adding Spanish. Sharing your troublesome document with me can help to improve Braille Scanner. Could you please take the time to: 1. Open your document in Braille Scanner. 2. Tap on the document settings button in the top right. 3. Tap on the “Report Incorrect Braille” button. This will create an email with your document attached. You can add extra information before sending the email. If you have any more questions please reach out directly to me at support@bronron.com

Scan Braille app

Cannot get it to read any Braille.

Dont work

Unfortunately, the app does not recognize a single font on the medication packaging. Furthermore, it needs 20 attempts to recognize only a aaa or ccc in the end.

Response from developer

Hi, sorry to hear you’ve been unable to get accurate results when scanning. Braille Scanner is designed to work with flat paper documents. To get the best results, try the following: 1. Ensure there is good and even light on the document. 2. Keep the phone flat directly over the document when scanning. 3. Position the whole document in the screen of the phone. Excellent app developer

Everyone should learn from this guy! Writing real Release Notes! Providing context on what’s new so users can choose if they wish to update.

Très beau projet.

L’onglet « Edit Braille » permet de comprendre quel symbole traduit quelle lettre.
