Great once familiar
This app is a great app once you become familiar with all the menus and settings. I was completely unfamiliar with this radio, aprs, signaling, etc. it took me about four weeks playing with the radio and app off and on. But now that I know how to use the app, it’s very easy to use and I like all of the apps features. By the way, if you are stuck shoot support an email. BTech support is amazingly good!

Great but the connectivity needs work
App works great but to reconnect on an iPhone you have to go to Bluetooth settings and forget the connection each time you want to reconnect the radio otherwise it doesn’t work.
Very good radio but….
Unfortunately the iOS app doesn’t work very well. When I first downloaded the app for my iPhone and iPad it was a pretty good “no frills” app. Then they pushed out a major upgrade that was seriously defective. Two days ago (23 Oct 2025) they released a patch. The app still isn’t working properly.

Very good radio, very good software
Btech products are impressively good. Few companies are as diligent about supporting and upgrading their products. Other ham radio manufacturers should be paying attention to the way Btech takes care of its customers.

App crashes when pairing
When trying to pair, the app recognizes the radio, I push pair and the app crashes. Every time.
1.9.1 crashes
Version 1.9.1 crashes immediately after connecting to the radio. Tried uninstalling the app and unpairing the radio multiple times.
Just got the UV pro. The app crashes.

Latest update crashes the app
I wonder if there’s any QA at btech for the iOS team. The latest update crashes the app most likely because it’s looking for a radio with the latest firmware, but doesn’t see it and crashes out. The kicker is the only way to update the firmware is with the latest version of the app, sooooo there’s a Catch-22 situation going on there.
Thankfully I updated the firmware with an android device that I bought because the iOS version is dogfood compared to the android version. Once the firmware was updated via android, the iOS version didn’t crash!
But the fun doesn’t end there. The satellite mode is actually worse than if it wasn’t there at all. There’s no list showing satellites like in the android version. Nope…you have to find them on the map manually. And even then, there’s just two. The ISS is one of them, but when you select it and choose to follow….nothing happens. It’s just stares back at you like you didn’t do anything at all. Wow.
This feels like some developer pushed this to production without ever testing. Can’t believe the android version outclasses the iOS by this much. Absolutely no parity in the product.

needs built in standalone APRS digipeater capabilities in this HT.
Also needs the ability to manually compose APRS messages to other ham radio operators callsigns that the radio has not received.
Please make a Mac specific app that works on Intel Mac computers.

Before you upgrade this App
Before you install this update make sure you are up to date in the firmware. 0.8.12-2 or higher. Software works great after the firmware update. It did not work until I updated. It would be nice to know what satellites are coming. This works in the android version and seems to have been left out in the IOS version. Otherwise good job.

Every time I go to pair the app with the radio the app crashes and closes.
Love the Radio, Like the App
I LOVE my UV-PRO and I really like the app. Just frustrated at the iPhone app trails the Android app in features. I’ve been checking for updates for months hoping the satellite tracking feature that the radio firmware supports would be added to at iPhone app but no luck yet. Fingers crossed that is shows up!

It’s killing my battery
This app is a power hog, doing nothing more than occasionally accessing my UV Pro. Fix this!!!i I don’t even keep settings synched. Only accordingly use For programming memory channels.
Easy to Use But…
This app is fairly easy to use and appears to keep up-to-date with regards to firmware versions. I’ve not used the Internet channels part of the application much, but I do hear others talking on it and they seem to be coming in crystal clear.
