Bungalow is awful and so is their app

Bungalow’s customer service is awful. Rarely timely in their replies. The app appears at first glance to be useful, but it is glitchy. Not only is it glitchy, but many submissions appear to go to nobody at all, and the best way to get in touch with Bungalow and ensure that matters are handled is ultimately to email them and then follow up with whatever representative to have them “reinforce your concern”.

Bungalow as a company is dishonest and has no problem engaging in illegal practices that violate state and local laws. They nickel and dime the household for petty and minor matters and charge a “service fee” when it seems that they are utterly incapable and unwilling to provide ANY service most of the time, and favor the lowest quality service possible at best.

Don’t download the app unless you are unfortunate enough to have signed a lease with Bungalow and need to talk to prospective housemates, and avoid signing a lease with Bungalow at all costs.

RUN AND RUN FAST

Been here 8 months. Communication is like pulling teeth on a tiger. Surprise fees without warning. Just a total scam. Run

Double-Billed

For the month of May of this year, my rent was double-billed unwarranted. Customer support has both denied the issue and has failed to resolve it within due time, as well as the delinquency department claiming that I am under risk of undue restrictions due to this mistake made on Bungalow’s behalf. This situation also happened with one of my housemates in a Bungalow home the same month in May. This also occured with a prior tenant living in the home. I recommend to not have your payment set on autopay to charge the full amount - if you are double-billed, that amount will be taken from you. I genuinely do not recommend Bungalow Living for the regular nature of infurriating conflicts such as this.

Don’t rent. Bad service

This is the worst service I have ever received in my entire life. You all are scammers and don’t even respond when we had issues. Moreover overcharging and lack of customer service in every aspect. Never doing business with this company. Very bad experience. You made me struggle a lot when you can’t fix things and never compensated.

Finding the right spot.

Finding a new spot was very easy and efficient. Being able to chat with the current tenants to see if you are a good match is very cool.

Nonexistent support

Several tickets were issued for the same problem only to be closed without any explanation or resolution. Minimum response and overly apologetic cookie-cutter emails.

Terrible Company And App

They overcharged us when we had a Roommates lease get taken over by another. Tried to hide it behind a series of confusing deposits and withdrawals on the ledger. Insanely hard to get in touch with customer service. After weeks of trying, I finally got in touch and they just said to file a complaint in the app. Love that. And when I tried to access the page to do that it said 404 not found. To add insult to injury, they didn’t give back security deposits to any of the 4 people in the house, despite the house being in perfect condition.

Awful living arrangement

It’s not a mistake that every review here is 1 star. They’ve likely tried to inflate their ratings to get it to 4 stars. Everything is predatory and the service fee is a joke. It took them weeks to handle basic maintenance requests like water leaks. The whole thing is a scam DO NOT RENT HERE.

Horrible management company

Most unethical management company I’ve ever known to exist. I’m confident Bungalow’s practices are not only below the ethical bar, but also teetering on the line of the law. You cannot reach anyone at bungalow for any concern you may have. If you call their published phone number, you will either get a voicemail that is never checked or instructions to visit a website that is not found to complete a ticket in a portal that is not accessible. It’s an circular loop of nonsense with no viable solution available. The rent prices are astronomically high, and the promises on the other end are never delivered. You have been warned.

Private equity

I think what bothers me most is how consistently low bungalow sets the bar. The home is presented dishonestly clean and maintained. It’s not. The contract you sign is draconian even by normal lease standards. Things like internet, air conditioning, working doors, all these things are above the bar bungalow has set for themselves. Reviews seems to suggest that my experience isn’t a fluke. I chose bungalow because they had flexible lease terms which fit my situation. In hindsight this was a mistake. It would have been far better to pay more for a normal studio apartment and just swallow the fees for breaking the lease early. If you have a choice between bungalow and living in a refrigerator box, hesitate before making that decision.

Absolute unprofessional/irresponsible conduct

Within my first year of living through bungalow one of my housemates threatened to kill another housemate. After the police came and took them away bungalow was barely cooperative with law enforcement and did nothing to help the rest of us process and move past the incident. They offered no explanation to how they let a violent individual with a known history of offensive behavior into our house. Their amenities and services are also severely lacking, with support tickets often being ignored and outright rejected for the most basic of housekeeping and repairs (leaky faucets, loose doorknobs, etc.). Overall a very poor, unprofessional, and overpriced service that will do nothing but leave you paying hundreds of dollars extra for no benefit.

If you’re reading this, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. These are by far the worst apartments I’ve ever lived in. Since moving in, there have been constant issues—pipes breaking, leaking everywhere, and absolutely zero urgency from management to fix anything. It takes forever for the property manager to respond—if they even respond at all. Phone calls are ignored, and texts go unanswered.

They treat serious problems like they’re no big deal. My apartment flooded, and it still hasn’t been fixed—it’s been over 4 months. The place is extremely run down, and they don’t even vet who they assign as your roommates.

To make matters worse, the advertised rent of $500 is a lie. We’re paying $700, and even after terminating your lease, they’ll keep billing you every month. No one will help you. No one will answer your calls.

Please, save yourself the stress and avoid this place at all costs.

DO NOT RENT HERE

Avoid renting here at all costs! They do not help tenants with anything. I currently have a roommate who has threatened to kick my ESA dog and they refuse to do anything! Threaten VIOLENCE and still are not willing to help!

AVOID THIS COMPANY!

My son, who is on the Autism Spectrum, is living in a place that was recently acquired by this company to manage. The only thing that has happened since January is that his costs have gone up when nothing they do is different than the last management company. The latest thing is they want to add a $200 “service fee” onto his rent charge to renew his lease. This charge was previously $25 & then upped to $50. There is no justification for the increase in the service fee other than greed. And there is no way to speak to anyone on the phone about anything. All they use is the app, which my son still cannot access after we have emailed them about the log in issue, & email that is often just a prewritten response. Not having a phone number to speak to anyone should be a violation for any company, especially for those with disabilities. We will be contacting legal aid as well as Apple about this app company which seem more like scammers than anything else. Seriously, do not rent with this company, they’ll just try to screw you.

REFUSED TO PAY SECURITY DEPOSIT

They Refused to pay payback my security deposit even though I did not even sign a lease with them. I had originally signed up with Homeroom and when they took over from them, our leases transferred to Bungalow. I submitted my move out notice two months before I moved out when I was still with Homeroom.
I ended up moving out a month after and still paid rent for the month that I did not live in the house (which is not a big deal as it was part of the leasing agreement ). When I followed up a month later after my lease send date, they told me that I owe them $120 more. Mind you, they had applied this in addition to the Security Deposit. Turns out my “move out fees” were more than any rent I had paid out for any particular month in two years. They added a 60 day requirement charge and prorated rent in my final bill. What a SCAM! They also threatened to Report my account to CREDITORS even though I paid all my rent and they refused to refund my Security deposit. I am planning to take them to court. I Know all about Texas Property Codes.

Can you fix this permanently?

Roommates use body odor as weapon as well as any house hold appliances they can get their hands on(they use the smell of food to cover the odor they’re creating) . The service of the internet has been down for a few years now and still being charged for it. The app does not update on chats of future residents and some of them are subletting which is against the lease.

Dont rent here!

Avoid by all means use Bungalow. My first house photos where far from the actual house that I moved inn. Then I moved to a second house that was actually worst than the first one. This service is not trustworthy, all months they over charge me with a fee that was not agreed, and untill I noticed they respond, and the reimburse didnt happened rightaway (obviously). Avoid problems, this service doesnt care about the roomies or your safety, and the cleaning service never came, but they charge me for it everytime (of course), but if I dont send them a picture the cannot reimburse me, (picture of what?) you show me a picture that someone actually came to clean…unveliebable.

Find other options, dont use Bungalow ever!!
