Brilliant App
Super App!! Seems to provide thorough information relating to bushfires and close to real time. Fire localities markers; can set up watch zones; advice & other levels of notifications for fire areas, and in my experience including notifications provided by NSW & VIC emergency apps; on map wind direction markers, which is a really helpful quick visual & cuts out having to work it through in your head (like other state emergency apps make you have to); visual plane water bomber & drone localities; road closures marked, which is really helpful if trying to travel and knowing the road is accessible; slightly buggy, but seems more informative than the NSW & VIC emergency apps (based in Australia). Keep up the great work!!

Thank you Nerida, this is exactly the kind of review that keeps us going. The wind markers and watch zones were built because we were frustrated with how other apps did them. Knowing they're useful means everything. The bugs are next on our list.
This app is awesome!
So I downloaded this app after reading a recommendation on the Bonnie Doon Community Facebook page on Saturday, 10th January, 2026. As a systems analyst who has been working on a graph project for 2 years, I’m so impressed with what you’ve built. The data is near real time, data sources/ metadata is included when you drill down, the UI is easy to use and intuitive, the screen design on map view outstanding. Great job team, keep it up. And for anyone wondering, this is a voluntary review that I felt compelled to write based on my use of the app.

Potentially excellent but…
Buggy as hell. Never remembers the last view when loading. Every time I touch the map almost anywhere it opens the standard state-issued warning which I’ve already seen a thousand times. Then often when I tap something the app goes black and reloads to some random view either mid continent or worldwide. The web version seems better although it has it’s own set of bugs.

Used to be amazing
Since the last update you can’t even tap on any of the map disasters to see more info. So it’s useless. Gonna suck not being able to use this app in bushfire season.

Using in NA I keep getting redirected to aus… useless app. Wouldn’t recommend

So when I downloaded this app i thought it it would update every hour but some update for a week but pretty good
Buggy and unreliable
A (potentially) good app compromised by bugs and crashes. Delayed notifications and location detection, plus freezes and crashes when navigating around map screen. Not great in an app which is primarily an incident/emergency info system. Pro version user.
All information in one place
A great app where the developers have pulled multiple information sources into one place to make for a really useful tool to monitor bushfires and related activities and information. Top quality work.

Based remotely I used the app to monitor a fire heading to my property. Ability to visualize wind, terrain and set various alarms assisted in determining when to initiate the fire sprinklers ( which wasn't necessary - the wind changed !) Highly recommended- it will only get better.

Account deactivated and forced to use Google
This used to be a brilliant app but for some reason the developers have decided to deactivate existing accounts and instead force you to use your Google, Facebook, Apple or Microsoft login - none of which I have or would use to log in to a different app, even if I did have them. Time to delete Bushfire.io

Thanks for your feedback. We have only ever permitted Google, Facebook, Apple and Microsoft logins to prevent abuse, if you opt-in for notifications or other advanced feedback. Update 2026/05/08: email login is now supported, so you can sign up with any address you like. The original framing of this reply has not aged well, apologies for that.
Fantastic tool
I love this app, it combines just about everything you need to see. I really love that you can see the aircraft and hotspots. Weather reports on screen are sensational.

Great App but…
Great app and very useful but it would be great if you could create larger regions for notifications. I’m in Western Australia which is a big state, in order to cover it all I would have to create hundreds of different notification areas.

Thank you for your app Bushfire.io - brilliant timely information and so good to get wind direction & speed and aircraft support. When you live in a bushfire zone as we do, early notification and correct detail is so important. This app is very well used in the PErth Hills area. Thank you!
Small hiccup with the update
Crashed my phone after the update and the app wouldn’t open - just gave a white screen - deleted the app and downloaded again - seems to be back to its usual great performance
