Bye Bye Con Artist!

Bye Bye, Con Artist helps protect you from unwanted and suspicious phone calls — numbers reported by the community as spam or nuisance, including persistent marketing calls and other numbers flagged as unwanted. The app uses a phone-number database updated daily based on user reports and verification carried out by administrators. As a result, only numbers confirmed as spam are blocked, while numbers that call for caution are labeled accordingly. HOW THE APP WORKS Call blocking: numbers confirmed as spam are blocked using the iOS Call Directory mechanism — your phone won't even ring. Warnings about suspicious numbers: if a number has been reported by the community but is not yet confirmed, during a call you'll see a label with the number of reports, e.g. "Suspicious number (3 reports)". You decide whether to answer. Trusted numbers: verified, friendly numbers (e.g. your clinic) are let through and shown with their name instead of a warning. Reporting: report a suspicious number with a single tap, right from the app. Daily updates: the number list updates automatically once a day. You can also force a manual refresh of the latest database at any time. NUMBER IDENTIFICATION RULES The app applies clear rules for labeling and blocking numbers: 1 report — the number receives a "suspicious" status, and an informational label is shown to the user during a call. 2 independent reports — the status is raised and the label becomes more prominent. 3 or more independent reports — the number goes to administrator verification. After positive verification by an administrator, the number may be marked as confirmed spam and added to the block list. No number is blocked automatically based solely on user reports. To keep the system fair to everyone, reports are tagged with an anonymous identifier (UUID) — so entries are not duplicated and one person cannot report the same number many times while pretending to be several reporters. IMPORTANT — CALL HISTORY IN iOS Because of how iOS works, a number you have previously been on a call with may not be blocked as long as it remains in your call history. To clear the history: Phone → Recents → Edit → Clear → "Clear All Recents". You can also delete individual entries by swiping left and choosing Delete. After clearing the history, we recommend restarting your phone. Numbers marked as suspicious or spam will still show the appropriate warnings. PRIVACY FIRST The app does not read your contacts, does not read your call history, has no access to the content of your conversations, does not build user profiles, and does not share or sell data to third parties. The app only downloads a list of numbers intended for identifying and blocking calls. Data used by the Call Directory features is used solely to operate, maintain, and improve the call identification and blocking features. It is not used to track users, build profiles, or for advertising purposes. The anonymous report identifier is random and cannot be used to establish a user's identity. GETTING STARTED Install and open the app. Enable protection in: Settings → Phone → Call Blocking & Identification → Bye Bye, Con Artist. Done! The app will automatically update the number database and protect you from confirmed spam numbers. A quiet phone means peace of mind.
