best calendar app!

my fav calendar app from what i tried. the layout and interaction out does the competition. best way to keep track of your personal calendar events.

I’ve used for 4 years

Hey guys, I’m hopping on to write a review and this is my favorite calendar app. Every time I suggest something new they added such as the colors on the calendar. I remember when they barely even had all colors of the rainbow and now they have everything I love the to-do list something about this calendar. It makes me so organized in my life and you will never regret paying the $20 even in comparison to Google Calendar. I believe this calendar is the best. The only thing I hate about it is the weekly view sucks because if you put a morning routine, you’re gonna see a bunch of time blocks of that morning routine rather than the actual events of that day and I like the Google Calendar weekly review instead, but other than that, I love this app.

Love calendars -but was misled

I love calendar 5. I’ve used it for years. Upgraded today. But for $20/year I am also going to get googles free calendar and find out if paying is really worth it.

What a calendar app should be

I'm really impressed by how this app has evolved. This is what a calendar app should be. There are too many good points to list, so here's just a few:

It has all the usually stuff, as well a comprehensive set of online calendars you can subscribe to - things like itemised games in the Olympics and the World Cup. Perfect!

It also has a proper task manager built-in. I haven't checked yet if it's GTD-compatible, but it's better than anything else I've seen in a calendar app.

It has all the views you could want, and they're all configurable.

It has 4 standards for week numbers, which is ideal if you're using it professionally. They're turned off by default.

It has lots of shortcuts and widgets, for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.

You can move events from one calendar to another without issues. This should be the case with all calendar software, but it's not.

On top of all this, it can sync directly with calendar services, so you can be rid of Apple's implementation and its tendency to forget login credentials.

Now the issues:

For direct connections to hosted calendars, it only supports Google and Microsoft calendars (not CalDAV), and Hotmail calendar sync doesn't work for events added from other apps (including Readdle's own Calendars 5 app). This needs some attention.

The natural language input is ok, but it can't handle a short day and date (Sun 5th July) simultaneously, which is what you might paste in, and any event name with a place name in it is going to be recognised as a place and automatically saved as the location, messing up both the event name and the location. It's not very good (and I think the logic is a decade old).

It doesn't have a lockscreen widget for tomorrow. Only for today.

Like most iOS calendar apps, you can't attach files. I don't know why this is.

You can't zoom in on the month view. You can switch view, but pinch-to-zoom with reflow text would often be better suited and it's not supported.

Fantastical

I love the Fantastical Calendar. BUT I don’t know how to create alert sounds ! Alert sounds are HUGE for me to remember appointments. Before the last couple of Apple updates I heard alerts. I’ve watched many videos. I have a iPhone 15z

Debra - Toronto CANADA 🇨🇦

Lost all my appointment from March 2026 on

Will never use this app again

Great App, but…..

I was using Calendars5, then changed to this one when I had to. Both are quite good - certainly better than the Apple or Google calendars.
Downside for me is that it doesn’t work well with Apple Watch ultra3. The font is way too big for the widget & you can’t read it. Any plans to fix this?
Suggestion also would be tho give an option in tasks to repeat from date completed instead of from due date for recurring tasks.
Other than that - well done! (But the watch widget is really bugging me)
UPDATE: The developers have fixed the widget problem with Apple Watch - well done. Still the best calendar app I have, and continue, to use.
UPDATE: here we are another 12 months down the track and I still think this is the best calendar app on the market.

Super handy, easy to use and dependable.

I have used this app for a good few years now, I use it everyday and it’s great. It’s so easy to use, putting in the information and setting the reminders is simple. It is dependable, I have never had an issue with it crashing or not saving my inputs. I would be lost without it.

Disappointed

Had this app for an about two years have lost all of my important dates twice! Look for a better and more reliable app!

On top of all this, it can sync directly with calendar services, so you can be rid of Apple's implementation and its tendency to forget login credentials.

Now the issues:

The lockscreen widgets clutter up the lockscreen with placeholder text even when there's no information to display, which only serves to make any text in the widget easily disregarded when there is something to read.

I'd like to have 2 wide lockscreen widgets: events today (on the left) and events tomorrow (on the right), but there's no widget setting for events tomorrow.

I'd like to be able to exclude events from specified calendars from showing up on the widgets. I don't think this can be done.

For direct connections to hosted calendars, it only supports Google and Microsoft calendars (not CalDAV) yet Hotmail calendar sync doesn't work for events added from other apps (including Readdle's own Calendars 5 app). This needs some attention.

It's not very good (and I think the logic is a decade old).

Like most iOS calendar apps, you can't attach files. I'm guessing Apple's calendar system doesn't allow this and a direct calendar connection will, but I haven't had much luck with the direct calendar connection so I don't use it.

Lastly, you can't zoom in on the month view. You can switch view, but pinch-to-zoom with reflow text would often be better suited and it's not supported.

Could not even use because it wouldn’t load

Just like the title says.

Not the best

I have used many calendar apps and you have to pay for repeat events like wth!! Over rated in my opinion. Use time tree!

Annoying policy around this app

Readdle used to have two calendar apps. This one used to be the free one, with a pro-IAP. The other one was an outright purchase. That approach was common on the App Store for a while.

Now, if you bought the IAP on the free one before they switched it to a subscription, you get all the old premium features in this app. Ok good. That's as it should be. However, if you bought the identical Premium app, you get nothing now, except a nag-screen in that app telling you to "upgrade" to this one - which is massively inferior and doesn't even have the basic features you get in any number of free calendar apps.

So I dislike it, and I don't use it.

The developer has responded below saying this isn't the case. It is, and this isn't the first time I've seen them deny it publicly. DM them and they always respond quickly to say their policy is that the lifetime purchase from Calendars doesn't transfer.

Excellent

So easy to use, everything color coded makes it easy to see at a glance.

Perfect Calendar App, but…

This is by far the best calendar app I’ve used - I love that I’m able to view all upcoming events in a list view, I love the Home Screen and lock screen widgets, and the in app UI/UX is chefs kiss! What’s keeping this from being a 5 star app is the lack of habit tracking. Habit tracking is advertised in the App Store images but I don’t see any real habit tracking features in the app. Another thing I’d like to see are more custom calendars for sporting events, or the ability to add custom calendars for all users to use. If I’ve missed where the habit tracking tool is, please let me know :)

Best calendar app in existence

update: they gave us so many new color options! I still would love to be able to label the colors! Also thanks for bringing the month’s tab back to the lower part of the screen! Makes the UX and UI sooo much better! What a great design team!

This is my all time favorite app because it’s soooo much easier to use. Only things I wish it had were more color options and I wish we could label the colors like “personal” “work” etc. other than that, the app is amazing!!

Best Job Scheduling Callander

I’ve been using this app for more years than I care to recall. The ability to have multiple Google Calendars, one for each building job I run, means I can be on top what trade needs to be at what job, very easily.

Free version does not allow recurring events

Looking for free basic cal but lack of ability to make events recurring makes this an incomplete calendar. Other functions seemed great.

Great Calendar

Thank you - I have been using this calendar for years and have been very impressed. I had an issue recently and received excellent customer service that solved my problem quickly. Thank you!
