About

Calorie Burndown answers one question the Health app doesn't: given what you've eaten and burned today, how much room do you have left? It reads those numbers straight from HealthKit, does the arithmetic against a goal you set, and shows the answer on your phone, your Lock Screen, and your wrist. WHAT YOU'LL NEED Calorie Burndown doesn't log food and doesn't estimate your metabolism — it reads what's already in Health. So you'll want a calorie-tracking app writing what you eat to Health, and an Apple Watch recording what you burn. If you already track both, this turns them into a number neither one gives you. If you don't, this app has nothing to read and won't be much use. EVERY FEATURE IS FREE No paywall, no subscription, nothing locked. The in-app purchases are optional tips — they unlock nothing, and the app behaves identically whether or not you ever use them. WORKS EVERYWHERE YOU DO - iPhone app with an iPad-optimized layout - A home screen widget that shows your remaining budget at a glance - Lock Screen widgets, so it's there without unlocking - A watchOS companion app with real-time numbers, even without your phone nearby - Watch face complications and Smart Stack widgets BUILT ON HEALTHKIT, NOT A SEPARATE DATABASE There's no food database here, no barcode scanner, and no second place to log things. Keep using whatever app you already use; Calorie Burndown reflects it automatically. Your health data is read on your device and never leaves it — there is no account, no server, and nothing to sign up for. YOUR WATCH WORKS ON ITS OWN The Watch app queries HealthKit directly, independent of your phone, so you get a real-time deficit number on a run or at the gym even if you left your phone at home. Settings and progress stay in sync across devices whenever they're near each other. WEEKLY CHECK-IN AND TRENDS A simple weekly check-in helps you see the bigger trend, not just today's number, and History charts your weight against the pace your target implies. IF YOU WANT TO SAY THANKS Settings has a tip jar with three sizes. That is the only place money is ever mentioned. It grants no features, removes no limits, and nothing in the app changes if you skip it. Calorie Burndown does not diagnose, treat, or provide medical advice — it's a simple deficit calculator built on data you're already tracking in Health.

Kilograms and kilojoules, if that's what you use. Burndown now shows weight and energy in the units of your region, picked automatically — so a scale that reads kilograms and a label that reads kilojoules no longer need translating in your head. Everything follows: the daily figure, the chart, the widgets, the Watch, the goal you type in, and the page explaining the arithmetic. You can change either unit in Settings, and your goal is stored the same way whichever you pick. The day's shape, on your wrist. The Watch app draws the same burndown curve the iPhone shows: what your deficit actually did today, the pace your goal asks for, and where the day lands if nothing more is logged. It sits under the figure rather than a scroll away, and the Smart Stack widget draws it beside the number too. It's read on the Watch itself, so it's there on a run with no phone nearby. The number now carries its own direction: +680 means ahead of your goal, -340 means behind. The word underneath is gone, because a sign works whether or not you can tell the colours apart. Also in this update: - Choose when the check-ins arrive. Midday, evening and the weekly review each have their own time, and the weekly one has its own day — so it no longer has to land on a Sunday morning. - The goal's manual switch now sits with the target weight and date it applies to. - The notifications section explains what it schedules instead of repeating a privacy line from the section above it. - A card on Today no longer sits with a wider margin than the cards around it. - The Watch chart no longer disappears for the rest of the day when a single reading is missed, and the widget keeps it refreshed between visits. Every feature is still free. No paywall, no subscription, no account.
