Better than most
I really like this program, it’s easy to use and works with a wide variety of microscopic cameras. I’m using a ipeice camera that I like really well and it does a good job.
Very helpful if you have mirroring problems
Using an external usb c webcam, my iPad using the magnifier app shows the image as mirrored. No fix. Native camera app does not support my usb c wecam. CamX supports the wecam, no miorring problems. Stopped using apple camera and magnifier. Gemini AI recommended the app to me. Thank you
Perfect for recording camera LCD
I have a YouTube channel for beginner photographers called (PracticingPhotograaphy). I need the LCD screen and found CamX with a video capture (usb) device works flawlessly. Perfect for what I use it for.

Works with my iPad but no iPhone 16 pro
I use this app when attaching my Canon R8 camera to my iPad and it works flawlessly, however it doesn’t work with my iPhone 16 Pro. I’ve reloaded it and everything, but on my iPhone it doesn’t show an External USB in Source type.

WAS good, but no longer works
Was working great with a USB borescope. Not sure if it was an iPadOS update or what, but now will not detect the camera connected to the iPad.
Response to developer response: I was using this for a USB borescope camera, which plugged directly into the iPad and everything worked great. Now it will not recognize the camera attached (even after disconnecting and reconnecting).
Hopefully this can be worked out as it was exactly as I needed.
Incidentally, I attempted to download some other apps that supposedly do the same, and none of them function or recognize the camera. Apparently Apple has restricted some USB features…

Huge let down.
Was super excited to have found this app to record via both external video and audio, but as soon as I click record the app crashes. This app seemed to have everything I needed, except the ability to function properly
Works as expected
You wouldn’t think it’d be difficult to find an app that allows the iPad to be a monitor AND record video AND actually work, but this app does it! There are a few apps that come close, but they usually lack in something, or don’t work as expected. This app definitely works as expected and looks good too.
