Great when it works
I really like this app, but it consistently fails to load emails. I will have push notifications for unread emails and when I check the app, there is nothing there. Support was unable to solve this issue and I am definitely not the only one experiencing it.
Lots of Wasted Space in the iPad Version!
The message list pane on the left side takes up nearly half of the screen and there's no option to view a message "full screen." Plus, there's a large blank area at the top of the message list pane. If that area was made smaller, more messages could be seen in the list.
Looks great. But slow iPad support
The iOS and Mac versions of the app look really neat, but the iPadOS version doesn’t seem as well designed with wasted space, especially with the calendar, compose, and inbox buttons at the top of the screen. It looks like this issue was reported awhile back but no action yet. Additionally, the inbox should be adjustable or a bit smaller, it’s taking up a lot of space and makes it look strange compared to the other versions of the app.

Fantastic E-Mail Client
Had this since 2017/2018, would like a grayish dark mode for the inbox instead of just a pitch black background for amoled. The color of the settings menu is the perfect grey i’d like to see carried over to the main inbox appearance as well Please!!
Seriously legit!
Makes me life 100x easier. Just get it
Slow and unreliable on iPad
I bought the annual Growth subscription hoping Canary Mail would be a good replacement for Spark, but the iPad experience has been disappointing.
The main problem is performance: the app can take up to around 30 seconds to open properly, even when it was already open and I only switched briefly to another app. Spark and Apple Mail open almost instantly in the same situation.
I’ve also had issues with message deletion not completing in the background, with Canary asking me to reopen the app to continue deleting messages. Sometimes message bodies have failed to display until I killed and reopened the app.
The app has some good ideas, but for everyday email on iPad it feels too slow and unreliable for a paid annual subscription.

1 unread - Not true
For the last day, I keep getting the one icon as if I have one unread email. I’ve searched and even filtered by unread and there’s no unread message. It’s a bit aggravating to look at the one please fix it.
Not Free!!
It allows you to download the app assuming it’s free, gathers all your info for your emails to setup, then it takes you to a page that says try free for 7 days!! Don’t take my info and then charge me for it.
Great app, but...
Honestly, this app is amazing. I've been using it for a few weeks now and I've been enjoying it quite a bit.
The pros:
No ads, normal features aren't locked behind a paywall, and it blocks trackers!!! The app functions just as smoothly as gmail, possibly smoother than outlook (which isn't hard to beat), and the interface is very intuitive.
Cons:
AI. AI everywhere. I'm sure that's not a problem for the ai bros, but as someone who actually cares about taking the time to do things myself and keep a functional brain, all I want is a button to turn off the ai stuff. I don't want to see "summarize with ai" every time I open a message from someone.
Final rating:
8/10

Keeps crashing
I've paid for Canary yet keeps crashing. Fix it or give me a refund
Visually confusing
I find I’m able to set up multiple emails which is good, but then when I receive email badges with new mail, it’s impossible to find the new mail in the list no matter how you configure it. You can’t just get a list of new mail, unreads at the top, they insist on prioritizing newsletters over new mail, changing settings to look at simple lists are not persistent (but still don’t get the job done) and there no way to configure the ui for a smaller font. Overall it’s an unpleasant experience hunting down your mail while being threatened with an expiring trial you never signed up for.

Great Switch, excellent mail client
I switched to Canary Mail from another popular subscription email app, and it has been a great experience—no lagging or glitches and it syncs seamlessly with all my devices. I just wish there were some visual improvements to the mail groups, but overall, it's an excellent replacement for the Apple Mail app.

Does not work
It started with a lot of promise. But now neither of the search function nor the AI results return the correct information. I find myself logging back into the original client to search for information that should’ve been easily surfaced. Big regrets paying for this app now.
UX design sucks
I like the features, but I hate the UX design of this app. I am doubtful that the developer will take heed and revamp it.
It’s hard for me to keep this app as my daily driver — the design sucks. It’s a shame because I have lifetime subscription.

Grear
Easy to use. Very orginized .
Frustratingly good and bad
This app is superb and bad at the same time. Most of it is design choices and silly bugs.
iPhone version has massive text at the top of the inbox which is an utter waste of space.
When changing the sending email address in compose, the drop down has hardly any space to show your address efficiently if you have more than two address or down have an iPhone Max.
iPad buttons at the top and all messed up and pushes the usable area down, looks amateurish and again wastes so much space.
This app is so close the great, yet seems to handicap itself constantly.
Overall it’s a fantastic email app and closest competitor to Spark. It’s just needs some polish and better testing.

Check this: Settings > Copilot > Help Improve Copilot ( is on by default and uses our email to train LLM). On the other hand they proudly claim that our data isn’t used to train LLM. If you are a lawyer please reply.
Great email app!
I recently switched to Canary and I’m really happy with this app. It’s easy to navigate and I can get through my inbox fairly quickly. I appreciate all the email hints that come my way from Canary as well.
Used to be great
I use Gmail. This has a problem with Gmail, specifically with connections. I have the lifetime subscription so maybe it’ll get better. Right now it’s unusable if you use Gmail.
Not as great as you think
I love it at first and moved like 9 emails over to the app. But the more you use the app, the more you see the amazing things that you can do with it. Too bad you have to pay a monthly small fortune to access ANY of them. And if you just stay on the free version, it’s absolutely 100% no different from the mail app that comes standard with any iPhone. Pointless waste of time
