The best tool for Cantonese vocabulary available
As an intermediate Cantonese learner who has tried a large number of different tools to improve my learning, I can confidently say that Cantonese Guru is probably the best tool for learning Cantonese vocabulary currently available. That isn't to say that the app is without problems.
One of the unfortunate features of Cantonese as a non-standardised language is that resources tend to be sparse, contradictory and sometimes even incorrect. The primary dictionaries that Cantonese Guru uses, called CC-Canto and CC-CEDICT—which I've used before—are open source dictionaries that contain problems such as incomplete definitions or incorrect tones. However, given that these two dictionaries are very commonly used in Cantonese learning software, avoiding them is almost impossible for anyone committed to learning Cantonese.
Furthermore these problems can be avoided or ameliorated with this app depending on how you structure your flashcards (e.g. creating two separate cards for the words "返" and "嚟" rather than a single flashcards for the compound word "返嚟", the latter of which uses obscure tones for the compound that would rarely be used in practice), and by adding user notes.
Overall however, in spite of the problems with the dictionaries used, this app remains the best tool I have used for learning Cantonese. I have noticed a significant improvement in my vocabulary and reading comprehension since I have been using it. For that reason, I believe it deserves five stars.

Brilliant
Genuinely one of the best apps that I’ve ever used for learning to read and write Cantonese. Many useful ways to practice including writing and listening with immediate access to pronunciation guides, traditional as well as simplified characters, cross referencing, etc. it’s all here.
Well built app
Super polished app and good content. Deserves to be on every Cantonese learners list of apps
Great for learners
I know how to speak Cantonese, but never learned how to read and write. This app is super useful in learning those characters.
Ok for flash card system
Works as a flash card system, but works better if you can combine with text that you want to deconstruct and then learn the individual characters. Example sentences are greatly appreciated to have an idea how the item fits into sentence structure.
For those of us who don’t know any Mandarin, a number of the definitions don’t make a lot of sense in English. Dictionary function is still in the basic stages. Pronunciation needs to be set to “online” to access a more accurate definition, however this function works intermittently.
Good news is that the developers are still making improvements, and hopefully some of the issues will be addressed.

Thanks to this app I was able to be allowed into my fiancé’s Cantonese family by father-in-law
